79 JUST THE WAY YOU ARE Bruno Mars

I thought this was Aha at first hold on that’s thrown me off again

#2632

I agree by the way. I know a lot of its appeal comes from the Tupac message etc but it’s a really bland version. Maybe partly because it was really overplayed at a time where the place I worked had pop radio on all day I find it quite painful to listen to.

The Foreigner song rather surprised me as in the UK it was "I Want to Know What Love Is’ that was their really big hit, I know the song here but it was more under the radar.

#2633

#2634

Possibly Waiting for a Girl Like You got more play on the rock radio programmes here, because to me it’s the Foreigner song that first springs to mind (ok, second, after the awesome Juke Box Hero).

#2635

That song was a pop milestone!

#2636

I think that’s just Aha.

#2637

Notorious BIG.

#2638

I thought that was two different guys

#2639

It’s the same guy, it was just Tupac in a fat suit.

#2640

Faith Evans was married to Biggie. There was a bit of a rivalry between them with each of their deaths has been connected to the other’s either as inciting or retaliation. It was a big deal when their mothers came together to try to end the rivalry after they both had died.

#2641

Yeah I know, it’s a long time ago and I had a brain fart on the correct dead rapper.

Is Tupac still releasing new material? (Dons tin foil hat).

#2642

40 ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST Queen

Not the best Queen song, still better than 90% of this list.

Hold on, need to re-start to catch up.

#2646

Reviewing it again I think that’s true of a lot of the chart. I remember seeing a show on the UK charts that said the way to get a mega seller, like Bryan Adams’ ‘Everything I Do’ which spent 18 weeks at number one, is to reach to the middle aged and older audience, kids alone won’t do it.

There’s a real absence of musical innovators on the list. The rock stuff is pretty safe, the rap stuff is on the poppy side and not NWA or Public Enemy. There’s no punk, no grunge, the stuff that approaches metal is very much on the ‘soft’ side.

30 SOMEBODY THAT I USED TO KNOW Gotye Featuring Kimbra

29 EVERY BREATH YOU TAKE The Police

(Pause)

#2648

28 TOO CLOSE Next

Oh it’s ANOTHER one of those.

27 I JUST WANT TO BE YOUR EVERYTHING Andy Gibb

Still think Andy must have been the non-talented one.

26 LOW Flo Rida Featuring T-Pain

Shut. Up.

25 WE FOUND LOVE Rihanna Featuring Calvin Harris
