So you've got about 32 hours left to have the biggest rave ever, Ireland.
LOL I saw this but have no desire to rush home and take advantage .... too much effort.
Perhaps a lot of people are too "relaxed" to take advantage of this?
The rest are waaaaay too hyper to enjoy it!!!
Damn, not a chance I'll make it to Ireland until this is over.
I could pick you up something and hold on to it till you're over.
The "holding on" part might not be actually legal then, mind you...
So, are people running around like crazy guzzling drugs, holding raves and having sex in the streets in Ireland right now?
You could go to Portugal where all drugs are decriminalised anyway, but I seem to recall some contention over whether is really exists or not.
Decriminalised is not the same thing as legalised.
I'm aware which is why I used the correct terminology.
It pretty much is on a practical basis if you want to party though.
I think it's still quite a big difference. Decriminalisation just means that you don't face criminal consequences - in Portugal I believe that you can still be made to take rehabilitation courses etc. to get you to stop using, for example. It's treating the issue as a social/health one rather than a criminal one - which I think is quite a sensible approach - but it's not a green light in the same way that legalisation would be.
This is a bit of an area of expertise for me.
No it doesn't really work like that, the rehabilitation aspect comes if problems arise from your drug taking, not trying to target individuals like they do in the traditional model and then send them for having a spliff on them. For example when I went to the Netherlands in the early 90s they allowed you to test your E's for safety before you entered a rave, it was technically illegal but for personal use for partying the police are not interested.
Oh dear. Drugtaking anecdotes. And the new board is only like a day old. What have we done?
I think enforcement differs pretty widely from country to country - so I'm not sure that the Netherlands in the '90s is necessarily a blueprint for how the rest of the world will handle the practical aspects. I agree that there's an important difference between the letter of the law and the way it is enforced, though.
Who had a drug taking anecdote? I mentioned that I saw a testing tent at a rave.
I was only replying to Christian's comment that there are other places you can go and take E at a party without risk of prosecution, other than Ireland for a day and a half.
I've been too busy to notice!
Gar - Well, someone at that rave was taking drugs, obviously, or they wouldn't have had a tent!
Lorcan - Too busy running around like crazy, guzzling drugs and having sex in the streets, one presumes.
I can neither confirm nor deny this
If only it had some kind of obvious, visible logo printed on oh wait a minute:
