He was good in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy as well. That’s what I remember him from.

A fixture of British TV for decades.
He was granted an entry in Guinness World Records in 2012 for having the longest career of any male television entertainer, which began with an appearance in 1939 on BBC’s Come and Be Televised when he was 11 years old.
An amazing record that will likely be beaten but notable because in 1939 television barely existed as more than a new experiment and was then put on ice for the war.
He was an entertainer in the old school sense; singer, dancer, actor, presenter. There are some people who could do that now, but the opportunities aren’t there in the same way.
So sad to hear about Bruce. He was beloved by millions. Including my Mum.
I’m glad he was so prominent for so long, right into his last days he was entertaining people, featuring on prime TV and delivering innocent joyful fun for people everywhere. A true legend. A life well lived.
89 years old? A career spanning eight decades? Didn’t he do well!
I cannot believe it
