MacGyver.

#2799

You know that’s been revived too, right?

#2800

Yes, and still running, making it the last good, fun spy action series I can think of.

#2801

Wait, Dave Meadows is enjoying a remake of a show?!

:open_mouth:

#2802

I’m just shocked @davidm didn’t say The New Avengers was the last good, fun spy show

#2803

In my defence, I never saw the original so it doesn’t feel like a remake

Very glad Riz Ahmed won over Turturro for The Night Of. Turturro was very good but Ahmed had the more challenging role. His transformation over the course of the series is incredible–although his acting in the first episode alone could’ve earned him the award all by itself, imo.

While Alexander Skarsgard was great in Big Little Lies it’s crazy that he won over David Thewlis.

#2807

Mostly agreed, though to be honest, I thought Skarsgard was the odd one out in the cast of Big Little Lies… his performance really didn’t gel with everyone else’s, for me.

#2808

He was outshined by the women but I thought he turned in a pretty fascinating and layered portrayal of an abuser.

#2809

The Handmaid’s Tale awards are well-deserved, especially Dowd (who was impressive in a much more subtle way than Moss, who was also great).

#2810

Good Omens set pic.

#2811

It’s clearly some weird fanfic Doctor Who/Master Cosplay.

Edit: I made that joke without remembering Tennant was a Doctor.

#2813

I’m glad to see Donald Glover get awards for Atlanta. That is such a great series.

#2814

I’ve been meaning to watch that but haven’t had the chance.

I watched the second series of Upstart Crow on BBC iplayer - the comedy wirh Shakespeare as the main character. It is much improved from the first series, they have got a lot more right, from the way the fake bollingbrooks language is used to the satirical parallels in modern society. They are much harsher on Shakespeare himself and David Mitchell is much more confident in his delivery - as are all the actors. Most of the weak reacurring jokes from the 1st series have been paired down, like David Brent-a-like for instance, and the plots are much tighter. Eps 2 and 5 were particularly good, with 1 the weakest and Ep 6 saved somewhat in its ending. All round I enjoyed it a lot. It had some great Shakespearian injokes and was nowhere near as toothless as the first series when sticking the knife in.

#2815

We watched just long enough to see Chris sing the In Memoriam part of the show.

I was glad to see Aziz Ansari win and give the entire speech time to his co-writer, Lena Waithe.

#2816

I had the same thought. Though I didn’t even recognize Tennant in that photo.
