Due to delaying the start of the season to THIS SUNDAY this season of Thrones was not eligible for nomination. The season was delayed due to the late Winter, which was Coming.

On that list I’m delighted to see American Ninja Warrior nominated, and I think Colbert has a slam-dunk this time.

Yeah, and good for her, but she should have 2 chances.
Justin Theroux should be nominated for lead actor, and The Leftovers should be nominated for best Limited Series (or Best Drama) and win.
Great show.

I know only three guys in the running and they already got the BAFTA for VFX, so good luck to them here, but if they lose then they’re still doing well despite it.

All this “snubbed” business does my head in, it’s clickbait. You can’t nominate everyone. Be glad for the nominees and then get on with the rest of the day.

EDIT:
Correction, I know a nominated composer as well, it’s a smaller world than I give it credit for.

Game of Thrones isn’t eligible this year
[/quote]Yeah, after I posted it occurred to me that Season 6 had already been nominated for the 2016 awards (including Max von Sydow as the Three Eyed Raven). So I guess we’ll have to wait until 2018 for Game of Thrones to win Best Drama Series again.

But it gave Westworld and Handmaiden’s Tale (which I haven’t seen yet) a nice opening.

Have you seen the leftovers? I’d honestly say that it getting no emmys is akin to the worst oscar decisions in history

#2243

The Michael McKean thing rankles because they nominated Jonathan Banks in the same category. Now, Banks is a great actor and Mike is one of my all-time favorite characters, but McKean’s courtroom meltdown was the acting highlight of this season, maybe even the whole show. It feels more like they’re rewarding Banks for the work he’s put in across two shows than his work this season.

#2244

I feel the same about Hopkin’s nomination

#2245

No Leftovers is unfortunate. Not surprised, though. Like I said in an earlier thread, I think it’s o e of the mist overlooked TV show around. Really heavy themes lots of people probably would be bothered by since they revolve around religion, faith and loss.

#2246

While I agree with @Kiel, you make a good point.

It is thick/heavy, almost to the point of tears (not that I would admit to crying, or being programmed by that music to expect an emotional response, yet crave it at the same time).
I did have to tell someone(s) to not watch because they’ve experienced loss.

But for those that take a chance (anytime), it’s going to be a nice find, and our little secret.

#2247

As I have seen only two of the programmes nominated in all these categories, I’m going to have to make my own picks based on what I have been watching in the last year.

Outstanding Comedy Series

Police Squad

Outstanding Drama Series

Westworld

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series

Diana Rigg (The Avengers)

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series

Dan Stevens (Legion)

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series

Matt Lucas (Doctor Who)

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series

Zoie Palmer (Dark Matter)

Outstanding Limited Series or Movie
Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie
Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie
Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie
Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie

I can’t even think of one.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series

You know what? this is too hard. I regret starting the whole thing.

Outstanding Reality Competition

America’s Next Top Model

Outstanding Variety Talk Series

Newsnight

For those upset over the snubs for The Leftovers, welcome to how fans of The Americans have felt. The two leads leads finally get nominated for Season 5. The Americans is a series that has gotten better with every season and regularly receives critical acclaim. Yet, the Emmys overlook it outside of maybe a supporting actor nom. I don’t think Russell or Rhys will win and should the show receive nominations next year for its 6th (and final) season, I doubt it will win then either.

It’s just one of those things. We got great shows we have enjoyed. That’s what’s really important.

#2249

As much as I would have loved for Legion to have received some nomination, I’m not surprised at the snub.

#2250

Aye, something for direction or lead actor - but not surprising.

#2251

Fair enough, I didn’t realize the Americans was in pretty much the same situation. Which reminds me, I need to watch season 5…

#2252

#2253

I’m going to guess he’s playing Captain Ashford.

#2254

Yeah that’s the only pre-existing character that would make sense.
