I don't see Wilson pulling off that sleazy charm that Carmel made look effortless.
Clearly you've underestimated Dwight Schrute.
Was it really that nuanced a performance?
Wilson comes across to me more of a serial killer than a con man.
I have been watching a show he's in on Netflix, called Backstrom. I believe it got cancelled, but he's a pretty good actor. So he may have different gears. And Harry Mudd isn't that complicated a character.
Maybe Mudd is a serial killer in this version of the universe. I mean, "con man" isn't really edgy enough for today's audience.
David's right - and he probably listens to prog too.
What the hell is going on with this show?
It happens. Sometimes you recast because it is a good idea to.
Eric Stoltz was the original Marty McFly. Viggo Mortensen was only cast as Aragorn after Stuart Townsend left.
That's film though. In TV any recasting almost always only happens after the pilot has been shot but production hasn't begun yet (such as with Buffy, Game of Thrones or Sons of Anarchy). It's pretty much unheard of doing it 4 months after production has begun. They also didn't just recast though, they switched the actor into a different role.
It's better that they fix it now when reshoots are an option than in a year or two
You mean, he started as a helmsman and mysteriously became the best engineer in Starfleet after a couple of months of (presumably) correspondence courses?
Do they offer correspondence courses on transition from Klingon to human?
Stop spreading your speciesist hate, Rory.
I'm thinking it could be make-up sensitivity. John Rhys-Davies went through hell as Gimli, which only showed up when appliances had been applied for a while (like days). The tests were okay. Seems a fairly cool bit of thinking, to me.
Yeah. Probably goes to show that they started production too early, before everything was properly in place.
I was ambivalent about this show from the get-go (mostly because it's another prequel thing), and I have to say this and the Fuller thing are not exactly raising my hopes.
