Play-doh? Anyone?

Does anybody else love the excuse of having kids to play with play-doh?

Here’s something I did today…

And here are a few things from the past…

Hope to see some play-doh works by other people here.

Awesome sculpting. You should try to turn some of these into some stop motion (or maybe not - very time consuming, but nice pieces!)

I used to be a sculptor of puppets for stop-motion . The actually process of animating never appealed to me, even though they get paid more.

Yeah, I started doing stop motion with paper puppets, which is what put the idea in my head. Making the puppets is fun. Animating is tedious. And the clay puppets seem far more intimidating than the paper puppets. Specifically getting back to the original face. With a paper puppet, you are layering the expressions (here are my fifteen mouths.) When I saw the demos for the clay, they were re-sculpting the face frame by frame. That is very intimidating.

I only ever did one plasticine sculpt that was then animated. Everything else would be molded and cast in foam or plastic. So we were doing the version of animation that’s done in the nightmare before christmas, not what’s done in wallace and gromit.
