Is it supposed to visually referencing a Promethea spread?
Definitely Promethea (and all of Moore’s work) is an influence on the book (and some of that influence is probably already obvious and will only become more obvious as we go).
But now, this was regarding…
I wanted Max to get lost in the Library, and kind of wanted to imply that the very shape of space was hexagonal in this place, this region. Comics gives you such a unique set of tools to get ideas across in shorthand. Was very pleased with how that one turned out.
We only get weirder as we go. Issue 5 is about as technically complicated as I’ve written, I think. It’s all done on a 9 grid, but we do a lot of really interesting stuff with it. Tic-Tac-Toe features into the issue heavily as a plot point (wtf is he talking about?! you’ll have to read!) and all the pages are designed to be read as recurring games of tic-tac-toe in series.
Very pleased with the last two issues especially.
