Oh don’t worry Ron, I’m experimenting with my thinking here.
What I was alluding to with Twilight is that - and 50 Shades certainly qualifies - is that away from the commercial sales, both advance some really dodgy stuff.
The thinking seems to be that if you have X person writing X character, with X being that which they have in common, the result will be brilliantly inspiring characters, which Twilight and 50 Shades argues against.
Hmm, that’s a point, we know how Marvel’s sledgehammer subtlety diversity drive was met in some quarters, but what was the view from women and/or ethnic groups to it? Haven’t seen much in the way of headlines for that.
