What Ronnie said. It was a dramatic moment, that really worked in context. I actually had no problem believing that a Hydra Cap could pick up Mjolnir; I still don’t (Original Sin proved that worthiness is in the eye of the beholder after all).
What’s annoying me is Marvel back tracking on it’s very loud marketing. Again. We were assured that this was the real deal. Now, suddenly, it isn’t.
We were assured the All New X-Men were the original five from our timeline. Now they’re not.
We were assured that Peter Parker was really, truly, dead. Now he isn’t.
We were told that there would never be a crossover between the main Marvel universe and the Ultimate universe. It would be the height of creative bankruptcy. Until it wasn’t.
It’s a really, really tiresome recurring motif with Marvel’s senior management. That’s what’s annoying. YMMV.
Edited to add: it’s compounded by the fact that these reversals are usually done so hamfistedly that it ruins the impact of the original big revelation. An enchantment. An alternate timeline. Etc.
