Hollywood Reporter on the crisis in Talent Agencies

This is really interesting. The debate is whether your agent or the company is who your loyalty goes to and I have to say for me it’s always the person. My agent has jumped 3 times in the 10 years he’s been my agent and I’ve moved with him every time.

Interesting. I can’t imagine this is a new dynamic. It was something I assume Jerry Maguire was riffing on back in 1996.

I want to believe that all agents leaving agencies happen like this;

I remember reading about the rise of CAA, back when Mike Ovitz emerged as the first superstar agent. Then he tried his hand at being a studio mogul and it all started to unravel.

The life of an agent seems like one of total, unrelenting pressure. They’re such an important cog in the machine, but it must grind a lot of them down?
