If they made a disco musical PG-13 young adult version of ROLLERBALL, it would hit every demographic.
Actually, I really like the old 70's near future sagas like ROLLERBALL, SOYLENT GREEN, THE OMEGA MAN, COLOSSUS:THE FORBIN PROJECT, SILENT RUNNING, THX 1138, LOGAN'S RUN before STAR WARS forever wrecked the science fiction genre
With the unexpected success of a movie like EX MACHINA, I get a feeling that audiences are in the mood for more mature or sophisticated high-concept science fiction films. Still, for every EX MACHINA, there are a dozen less successful movies like that both commercially and creatively.
MORGAN, I'm looking at you.
It's the same with horror films, too, only instead of a dozen, more like sixty bad movies for every one good, smart horror film.
