Avatar and Facebook problem

My avatar keeps disappearing. It works for a while then (poof) it's gone, without me doing anything to change. Also, my Facebook connect has been down for a while now. Is this a long-term problem for everyone, or just me?

Also, how do you change your profile pic? I can't remember.

Profile pic is Settings/Profile/Change Photo.

The other bits I defer to the more tech-savvy.

my guess is the URL for your avatar keeps expiring. Where is it uploaded to?

It is, and for some reason I can't reight click on the image and see the properties. Can you copypasta the URL for the image from you profile here?

This is the image I've been using this week for my avatar. I change it on a weekly basis but lately whatever I put in there lasts only a day or two then disappears. I could put it in there right now and it would work, but by tomorrow night it would be gone again.

that is weird indeed. Have you tried uploading the avatar to the site instead?

No. It's not just THIS image though. Any image I try to use as an avatar does the same thing. I can give the uploading thing a try though when I get home today.

and when you use the avatars, are they all from the same photobucket account, or even the same folder in the same account?

Lots of questions, but it'll help me figure out if the problems with your profile or with where you're storiign the images.

I was using whatever my Facebook pic was as my avatar, but my facebook connect has been down for a couple of weeks now. That's really when all my MW problems started. Since then I have been using downloaded images from my computer or photobucket-stored images. Neither lasts for very long. Again, I think it has something to do with my Facebook connect, which has been wonky since the last upgrade.

Thanks for all your help, Lorcan. I really appreciate you trying.

There's a timeout problem between us and Facebook. I'm trying longer wait times for our server, but so far no joy.

Should we be worried if Facebook doesn't want to be our friend?

That depends how you feel about Facebook. If, for instance, you think of Facebook as an insidious organization ready to sell your information to the highest bidder (hell the lowest bidder as well). Then you should rejoice in being snubbed.

If you love Facebook and the way it allows you to keep up with friends and family, the snub is very distressing.

I'm in the love category, but I never have had so many "glitches" with Millarword before I started using the Facebook connect. It was nice, but not worth all the trouble it has possibly brought me.

I uploaded an image straight from my computer. It only lasted a few hours.

OK, that's gotta be something on the account side. That's really weird.

Almost every week, in reflection of whatever theme is going on in the SFL. I also sometimes use my Facebook pic as my avatar when facebook connect is up and running.

I just uploaded it again. Come to think of it, I wonder if the problem is that my Facebook Connect setting is still set for using my profile pic as an avatar, and since I can't use Connect, or even go to the Facebook connect settings page, this is interfering with whatever other avatar I'm trying to use? Just a thought.

You still can't get into Facebook Connect on your profile?
