I guess they’re banking on Michonne’s potential to become a fan favorite, like she is in the comic. Her character should work great on TV.

I hope this turns into the new Mad Men. Meaning, very high production values, top notch-writing/acting, crazy good critical acclaim and lots and lots of viewers.

I dunno if it can have that many viewers. Even with all the zombie hype lately, it's quite a risk doing a genre series at that level. I really, really hope it works out, though.

Yeah, I'm not sure it'll be able to grab lots and lots of viewers, but I do hope it grabs enough to be considered a success on AMC. I wouldn't think that would be that high of a number, but I don't actually know what kind of viewership AMC's other hit shows have.

Yeah, they have to be smart and do it like Kirkman does: use the zombies as a backdrop and focus on the characters. Making it a straight up zombie thing could drive mainstream audiences away, I guess, what with all the nastiness that comes with the territory. Then again, Dead Set was pretty well received if I remember correctly. And I’m still astounded with the amount of gore they got away with.

I think it coud actually do better numbers than Mad Men. It's a great show but it's hardly a commercial goldmine, a slow moving drama about 1960s advertising. I think zombies would have a more immediate appeal.

I think this is exactly what AMC needs to become a mainstream success and become even more popular. AMC was in danger from being dropped from AT&T U-Verses cable provider and I think The Walking Dead can really shine a new light on AMC and truly make AMC the best channel there is on TV

Yeah, but are they mainstream enough? Anybody can watch a well done drama show, but with zombies, you've already scared away a good segment of your audience. Maybe the genre crowd and the open-minded are more than enough to carry this by now, I dunno.

Only time will tell honestly but I think The Walking Dead will bring a new line of audience to watch AMC
