They've got no chance of communicating with Geordies.

It's crazy how clearly I can remember stupid, thoughtless things that I said to people some 15, 20 years ago, and how those things will pop up randomly in my brain and make me wince still today. Do you forget that stuff when you hit middle or old age? I hope so.

If you keep having an emotional reaction to it, you're just reinforcing those synaptic pathways.

In other words, be a heartless bastard and stop caring. Then you'll forget about it.

Inglorious Basterds is on Channel 4 tonight, but it's listed as just "Inglorious". Is "bastards" really that bad a word?

Maybe it's just Microsoft's TV guide that balked at the word then.

They used the full title when advertising it on Channel 4 the other night (that could have been post watershed).

They've got no chance of communicating with Geordies.

Especially if they turn up on a Saturday night........right before the Newcastle-Sunderland Derby.

Do you forget that stuff when you hit middle or old age? I hope so.

Nope :(

Who was that dude that died in the States the other week? The guy the tin foil hat brigade claimed Obama had murdered. I'd totally have a whole bunch of dudes killed if I was the leader of the last superpower.

Went to geek quiz last night. Didn't look promising at first. My team floundered on general knowledge, literature, PC gaming (despite assurances from proud PC nerd) and some of the puppet picture round (I somehow managed to recognised Zelda from Terrahawks, couldn't name puppet from Farscape, annoyed to find fish woman off Stingray is Aquamarina, not just Marina apparently).

Halfway in, we were joint bottom. Then there was the specialist round, which turned out to be on the Avengers. Blissful. It turns out I know a lot about the Avengers (they were fairly easy questions to anyone who reads the Avengers tho).

Abdicated responsibility for hellish round 'Zombies, the Big Bang Theory and Hobbits', which my BBT-loving friends let us down in. Final round was double points, but 0 if you answer anything incorrectly. Did really well there.

And then somehow, we ended up joint second. Trouble is, there was only a prize for first and second and they couldn't split it, so there was a tie-breaker, which turned out to be a drinking contest. Which was lame.

I think you were robbed. Marina was the only name used on-screen, "aqua marina" is a lyric from the song in the end credits, and it is pronounced as two distinct words, not as a name: "Marina... Aqua... Marina... What are these strange enchantments that start whenever you're near... etc etc"

Do you remember any of the questions?

EDIT: Amazingly, IMDB doesn't list the full cast of Stingray. That's the first time it's ever let me down.

EDIT 2: Ah, that might be because Marina doesn't speak...

Bleurgh. Definitely.

It's a cruel, cruel joke when a grandparent brings out the biscuit tin for kids, only to reveal it's filled with crappy biscuits. I think they do it on purpose for evil jollies.

Sad act that I am, I can remember most of the Avengers questions.
1. Name the five original Avengers
2. Who is directing the Avengers film?
3. What is the other identity of Simon Williams
4. Who is Quicksilver's sibling?
5. The Vision was created by which villain?
6. Clint Barton is the real identity of which hero?
7. Who masqueraded as Spider-Man as part of the Dark Avengers?
8. Who was the second god to join the Avengers?
9. Which Avenger is king of Wakanda?
10. Which Avenger died at the end of Secret Invasion?

And David, you're right about Marina, I looked that up after posting as well.

Hercules? Strictly speaking, he's a demi-god.
