I got a picnic basket of jam, preserves, oatcakes and muffins just before Christmas for an organisation I did some teaching for as a favour in November.

I liked it. Lots.

I have a jar of homemade blackcurrant jam and a jar of rhubarb and ginger marmalade sitting in my fridge made by a friend who's every bit as good as my granny at jam making.

Now I want some.

oh, friends are good too. but it takes effort to get my friends to make me pancakes, or anything else. jam is pushing it.

She has also left a bottle of a mulled wine vodka cordial that tastes amazing. It is thick and gloopy, tastes fantastic, and has an alcohol content sufficient to down an elephant.

I like muffins for breakfast and cupcakes for dinner. For lunch, whoopie pies.

Preserves are the collective containing jam, jelly, chutney, marmalade, etc. Jam is just a small part of that group.
