at this point, i'm tempted to blurt out why i'm still in school, as i'm convinced it would make them feel very uncomfortable and would shut them up. however, it's none of their business, so perhaps in the future i'll just remind them that none of them have a university degree, so to kindly shut the fuck up.
there's also this one little prick that is a new staff member, and he talks down to me. i've been here longer than any of the staff, not just the ones with the same position as me, yet he has the audacity to talk to me like he's my superior. i really despise him.

Some people calm down after they've been at a job for a while anyway but, in the meantime, you're there so you'll have to find the right time/place/way to cut him off at the knees.

I hope that isn't the voice of experience there Bruce? If you're going to cut him off at the knees make sure you use a really sharp knife - all that bone and cartilage is a nightmare to saw through with a dull knife.

i am starting to hate my job. i don't feel appreciated, no one in charge is competent, i'm constantly having to re-do things, and i'm getting really upset at this point at some of the staff who tease me because i'm still in school. EVERY time i see them now it's "How's school?" *chuckle* Aren't you done yet? How long has it been again? And how old are you again?" i already feel bad enough about it as it is, i don't need them rubbing it in my face every single time i go to work.

i work with a few 'people' like that,(and i use the word 'people' very loosely) next time he reveals one of his wittisms i find replying with 'do you read much oscar wilde?' or something equally as sarcastic shuts those kind of pillocks up.
in a nutshell - he's a dick.

My advice is to not put up with any of their shit. If it leads to you finding a new job then so be it. It's not worth it in the end. My girlfriend was at a job she hated for 7 years. Towards the end she was even becoming suicidal. It was that bad. She's now at a new job where she's actually appreciated and it's made all the difference in our lives. It's surprising how much of our lives can be affected by something like this.

This was while I was a swimming teacher, one particular day all the boilers gave out and then the filtration system backed up turning the water brown. I phoned to see how everything was looking and was told not to bother coming in to work. The next day I was called in to the office and reprimanded for not coming into work. I explained my side and asked what exactly a swimming teacher would be expected to do if the pool was closed. I was told that all the other swimming teachers had come in and helped to clean the building. At this point I asked to see my contract, the manager allowed me to look at the copy they had and I pointed out the fact that it said in my contract that I was not able to take part in any work that I had not received the training for and I would be liable if any injuries were sustained. I then asked how many of the other teachers had received KOSH training either before the day in question or on the day in question. He had no answer and I left the office head held high, I was also paid for the day I didn't come in.
So if you can't literally kick them in the nuts do it metaphorically...

Why on Earth would anyone make you feel bad about going to school? Since when did going to school become a low point in one's life? I don't get it.
because i'm 29 and doing my undergrad, so when they found this out, they started making jokes about it.

i can believe it. after all, one does spent at least 8 hrs a day, 5 days a week at their job, so if it makes you unhappy, i can see how it might lead to that. i'm glad she's found a place that she likes.

Well I think that that is just silly. These people sound like idiots. School is expensive and as such should be treated as a status symbol. If I could afford to go to school without needing to work evenings to make ends meet then I would do it in a heartbeat, and I may still do it anyways. I'm 32 and nowhere near figuring out my life.

My sister dropped out of college after two semesters and went to work as a bookkeeper for a law firm. After marrying and having two kids, at the age of 35 she went back to college part-time, got a degree in speech therapy, then continued on to eventually get her Master's degree, and now works in a school with special-needs children, doing something she really wants to do.because i'm 29 and doing my undergrad, so when they found this out, they started making jokes about it.
So hang in there, Stephanie, and don't let the bastards grind you down.

ty for changing the title, mods. I kept thinking Millar had sounded a Browncoat call to arms.

Anyway, after expressing their displeasure, they've continued being obnoxious by clattering about their house all morning, very loudly. It sounds like they're playing real life Portal and flinging about a companion cube or something. They do this nearly all the time. Even when they're not in, they have workmen around continually repairing their house (for free presumably, as it's a council house).

As a fat ugly man that pisses me off no end...
