They've re-titled it? That is... odd. Do they think people are going to confuse it with the TV show? Posted Image

Yup. Or the terrible movie. Only in the UK (and I guess Ireland) though.

That Avengers poster is pretty bad.

the retitling is a bit strange. although it will give me the opportunity to ask people if they're "going to AA this weekend?"

edit: when it's out of course. also...early release? See, Disney, you can get things right sometimes...even though this probably should be out in the US first.

Captain America looks way too tall - maybe they give him the Giant Man formula. Hulk is back to King Kong proportions, too.

Nah, he's about the right size when you realise he's just standing on a bit of rubble immediately behind Natasha. The composition of the image makes you think at first that he's further in the background - next to the building - but he's not.

Hulk is back to King Kong proportions, too.

Yeah, he looks almost Ang-Lee-Hulk-sized (and you wouldn't like him when he's Ang Lee etc.).

Anyway, you can't really base any expectations about the movie on shoddily-photoshopped posters like this. Otherwise we would have been treated to a whole film of bobble-headed X-Men...

Calling it Avengers Assemble is a smart move. That means they don't have to call the sequel "Avengers II" (yawn), the can play with the title and give us "Avengers Disassembled", "Avengers Reassembled", etc.

It's still being called Avengers in the US though. It's only here that some marketing idiot has suddenly panicked and realised there was once a TV show with the same name that might potentially confuse 1 in 490,000 people and therefore cost them a single ticket sale. And I guarantee nobody, but nobody, will ask for a ticket for Avengers Assemble. Everyone will still call it The Avengers without giving a moments thought to Steed or Mrs. Peel. Posted Image

New trailer is up.

Kind of disappointed that the new footage doesn't really add anything substantial to what we've already seen.

There were some solid intros there for most of the characters.

Well, it does, but it focuses on the characters and not on the plot.

I thought it worked really well in (re-)introducing the characters.

I liked it! Doesn't give a lot away other than "these guys think each other are jackasses, they fight for a bit, then band together against a common foe". What more do you want / expect from a first superhero team movie?

I was just expecting something more of a reveal rather than just an expansion of scenes we've already seen.

Don't get me wrong, I like the way they're playing up the "misfits banding together" stuff - going from a full-on slugfest to Hulk saving a falling Iron Man - but I just wanted something to give me a nerdgasm. There's nothing there that gets me excited in the same way that the Dark Knight Rises trailer does.

the sound in it reminded me of Transformers. Thankfully, that was the only thing that did. This looks GOOD.

In keeping with the faux silent film renaissance led by Hugo and The Artist:

And that's why the phrase "To each their own", because I am the exact opposite. I can't stop watching the Avengers trailer, while the Dark Knight Rises trailer bored me silly the first time.

Yeah, this trailer gives me the impression that it is character driven, about their relationships and struggles and the visuals were well done and interesting - if a little cheapy.

Worked for me, it covers everyone well enough in the time they had and built nicely. Good, professional work.
