Hello all,

I was reading some of the ace submissions on this 'CREATIVE' section of the MillarWorld Forums and came up with an idea for an iPad app and wanted to see if any of you would be interested in getting involved.

Firstly here's a very quick bit about me, I'm a freelance designer/developer working in digital advertising. I've worked in some of the top London agencies and some other great companies such as the BBC, Sky, Channel 4, and so on, creating games, apps, ads etc. My real interest is in comics - I would love to be a full-time writer and make a career out of that, a lot like Mr. Millar himself.

I thought I'd combine the two and here's where my idea comes in -

An iPad app which will act as a platform for creators to showcase their comics and hopefully make them a bit of money for their efforts. It will be 'digital only' platform but with the aim of getting the writer/artist some recognition so it can be published how it should be - in print.

Ideally, how I see it working is like at the end of some comics you get a 5 page preview of an upcoming comic - acting like a teaser trailer. The app could have a number of these 'teasers' which would be available for free download so the user can have a good look and then decide if he wants to see more by up-voting it. The comics with the highest upvotes get the recognition therefore expanding it's visibility so more users can download it.

I'm also toying with the idea of implementing a crowd-sourcing type functionality so the creators could name their price for them to release the whole comic / series and let the public make donations until the total is met. Users who donate big amounts are rewarded with free subscribtions, exclusives etc. A lot like - http://www.kickstarter.com/

So please get in touch if you'd like to have your work in my app and I'll give you more information about it all.

Thanks,
Neil

I'd love to be involved. This is an awesome idea.

lazarusconsortium@vodafone.ie is my email if you think my stuff is eligible ("Wulf" is in the iconic characters thread, page 9 I think.)

I think you have the right idea. Because no matter what anyone says, digital is the way forward.
I will be interested how this plays out. Good luck.

Thanks for the support - if you could all think about your best work, something you're proud of and want to develop further that's the kind of stuff we should have on here.

Next step for me, I'll post some designs of how the app will look. I'd love some feedback and make this a collaborative effort - even get the man Mr. Millar involved if possible.

Feel free to email me at neil@nmid.co.uk with any questions or submissions.

Very interesting concept. I think this could work.

As the others have stated I would like to join in on this. It could be a great way to promote everyone's work here.

Are you familiar with the comiXology app? I'll watch this thread for further developments.
