The other topic is locked and I was unable to find a new one for it so hopefully this is OK.

I was recently in Jamaica and got some footage of some badass breakdancers.

Both of these are on the long side but well, well worth it:

Remember me? I'm bigger now:

They are now having it follow humans, evade obstacles, and plan to have it obey/react to verbal commands. The noise of course will go away too to be useful in battle.

Nothing like good old warfare to light a fire under technology innovation again, it seems.

Nice.

There was a nice travel documentary on North Korea in tv here a while back, it broke my heart. That country is beautiful; and the people are so friendly and with lots of potential, smart, creative and energetic; it's a shame they're stuck in this cult of personality thing.

Yeah, the other day I watched this documentary where a group of German steam engine aficionados visited North Korea in the depth of winter and filmed their journey with a hidden camera. The poverty is heartbreaking, the architecture in its megalomaniacal grandeur is sickeningly awesome and the atmosphere is just oppressive and terrifying.

Yeah, the thing which surprised me is that outside of the capital the country really is beautiful, the nature is stunning, and there's still a few wonderful old temple buildings left. I guess it's similar to Eastern Europe in that people expected those countries to be really ugly and "gray", whereas under the layers of soot it was still wonderful.

It’s crazy and scary. In one scene they were driving by a beautiful mountain range and on the slopes were erected huge, and I mean huge concrete letters that spelled: “The Great General sees everything.“ Chilling…

Yeah I think so. A fair amount of Eastern Europe outside the city centres can be quite ugly and grey but I think a lot of propaganda was involved in convincing us that's all that was there. The after the iron curtain fell down people went to Prague and Tallin and Bratislava and they are absolutely stunning.

On his current tour, Henry Rollins has a bit on his trip to North Korea that was pretty funny/interesting/scary:

This clip starts basically after he's talked about coming to NK and meeting his guide for the week, Kim, and a woman who was with him who was very detached and who was basically his personal spy/watcher for the government.
