alright, so the girl with the dragon tattoo. the movie itself was alright, but i found the scenes without lisbeth salander to be kind of boring. i am so totally in love with her character, who is at the same time fierce and vulnerable. if rooney mara doesn't win an oscar for her portrayal, something is amiss. she was pretty fearless in that role, and i found her rather remarkable. i had put off watching it because i heard it was incredibly disturbing and someone mentioned they had to leave the theatre during a scene, but i was unfazed, probably because she got her revenge in the end. anyway, i'd recommend the movie for the characters of lisbeth and mikael alone. i really want to pick up the second book now.

I've been mean to see this version of it. I actually just finished watching all 3 movies on netflix (the original versions) I thought they were pretty well done. I wish I would have read the other two books before I watched these films. But I just couldn't resist I wanted to watch to see how it ended.

Plus I love David Fincher's style so that makes me wanna see it even more. I'm not to sure if it is still out in theaters here. I'll have to look.

Watching the "Sykes" with Peter Sellers guesting currently on BBC Four . . . classic . . . plan then to watch "The Cricklewood Greats" from oscar winning director Peter Capaldi, which includes an interview with Terry Gilliam on how his movie "Professor Hypochondria's Magical Odyssey" broke the famed studio . . . and also Being Human, which starts up again this evening . . .

That there confused me for a second, until I saw that this was a fictional documentary. Neat!

Watching Top Gear. Clarkson has old-person eyebrows now and they really need a trim.

Just watched the entire live action The Tick. Wasn't sold on the pilot but persevered with a couple more episodes and it "clicked". Great stuff and funny as hell.

Does that constitute a spoiler Christian? :)

So far, it's impressively meticulous without actually being all that entertaining, but I'll stick with it.

I'm watching 'Bomber Boys' again. Ewen McGregor and his brother presenting a documentary on the bomber crews of WW2.

There must be times when being related to a movie star is tough, but at least when someone asks Colin McGregor, "So your brother's a famous actor, what do you do?"

He can answer, "I'm a fighter pilot." :)

That was cute. I love a good, corny, everyone on a tv network does a musical number ad. I like that musical too.

Watched In Burges not to long ago. It's weird that it's just as funny as it is bleak but I thought it was great. There's some very decent writing in it.

Martha Marcy May Marlene. Really liked it. A bit over-stylized in places, but it works. Olsen is fantastic (as is John Hawkes), and I'm already looking forward to seeing it again.

How many of those shows are canceled by the end of the season?

Though the best part was without a doubt the SVU cast singing while Ice-T looked around confused.

It's fine. Very well made of course but, in the end, it's almost just another serial killer movie, albeit one made by a group of A-list talent.

I say "almost" because the film is two and a half hours long, mostly because everyone (I think, even Fincher) seems more interested in what happens around the investigation, than the investigation itself. It's just as well that the characters are complex and well drawn enough to carry the extra running time.

Probably less than would be expected because they are so thin on successful shows. But some.

I watched the whole thing, but I'm still not sure what the point was? Do movie documentaries need sending up that much?

I wouldn't be too sure of that. At least three are already on the bubble or chopping block (Community, Whitney and Chelsea) and Smash is going to have to do really, really well to be successful since it costs $4million per an episode.

To counter understatement with hyperbole, In Bruges was an incredible piece of writing, and it had the best dialogue in the movies in a decade*.

*Kiss Kiss Bang Bang was over ten years ago, right?
