Glowing review there! :D

What's it like though? What kind of game is it?

Played more AC:R. More than I really intended to. It's fun, but it's a damned Columbo game (Internet points on the table for the first person that gets that one).

columbo game...you do bugger all for ages, but walk about and talk to people. then, just as it appears you're totally lost...everything is solved in 5 minutes.

maybe?

You need to have one eye to play it?

My lovely shiny copy of Arkham City arrived yesterday, I have tucked it away until I complete AA first...

Ok, since nobody got it, AC:R is a "Columbo" game because it plays on the basis of "oh, just one more thing. . ." I'll be playing it, I'll set a goal for when I intend to finish, and then I'll do that, and then there will be "just one more thing" that I could take care of real quick, like buying a shop, or rescuing a new assassin or something, and then once I'm done that, "just one more thing," and before I know it an extra hour or two has vanished. ;)

"Just one more thing" was my next guess, but not for the same reason you gave Ogul.

I was thinking it kept making you do "one more thing" before you could finish the mission or save...

And I would also like to note, I hate games that only save whenever they damned well feel like it. I want a game to save when I press a button that tells it to, or at the very least when I activate some node directly. I don't like being at the whim of actually accomplishing something of value before it decides I've done enough worthy of saving, or when it saves on its own when I clearly do not want it to remember the bonehead mistake I just made. ;)

The problem with the "press button to save" thing is that you could end up with what I called the Tomb Raider death loop...

Just as Lara is about to fall to her death I would hit the quick-load button miss and hit quick-save (side by side funtion keys) it would then get stuck in an endless loop of her falling to her death and then loading mid jump for it to happen all over again...

I guess I could have just re-mapped the keys but I was 13 and the thought never occured to me...

So I haven't loaded up or logged into The Old Republic in a few days/weeks. I just got an email telling me that my companion misses me. Awww, I have to go on now!

this why u make multiple save files. I tend to have at least 2 saves of any in progress game. now granted, I might lose a few hours work if I screw it up, but better that than an endless loop of Lara Croft hurtling towards the ground and making sex noises when she dies.

This is why you allow multiple saves. Now sure, an absent minded player can then not make a genuine save for hours and then screw up, but that's life, at least he had the option. When you only have one save, all manner of bad things can happen to it. I had a complete gamekilling bug in Fable III that took them over a month to finally patch, and while it didn't happen to me, I've heard of save files being corrupted in Arkham City early on. That's never been a problem for me in games with multiple save files (although ending up with several gigs of Bioshock saves on my Xbox was a bit of a problem).

So I haven't loaded up or logged into The Old Republic in a few days/weeks. I just got an email telling me that my companion misses me. Awww, I have to go on now!

Lol, that's hillarious. I'm currently juggling three characters, a level 20 Scoundrel, a level 20 Sage (both currently parked at the Fleet while they crafting mule and wait their turns), and my level 39 Trooper who just got the Hoth. Quesh went by really fast, but it did offer some interesting story elements.

don't talk to me about Quesh. That bloody Imperial in his bloody wee room with his bloody droids! I have no idea why the undercover guy couldn't just leave with me when he had the chance, instead of making me go, and die, and die, and die again and then die some more, and then quit and go level up elsewhere to go back and die yet more times, against that bloody Imperial.

I just went to Hoth as well. Sort of bored with the landing on space stations thing now too, but I'll work my way through. Story seems sort of okay, although maybe not as intriguing to me yet as Balmorra. That was a good one. I'm going to have to do the next part of the Jedi Prisoner flashpoints too. That's a good and fun storyline.

Just started the first Uncharted, having never tried the series before. It's enjoyable enough in a Tomb-Raidery sort of way, with lovely visuals and an interesting enough story. But it does feel a bit overly reliant on cut scenes, often with very little in between other than walking between two points or navigating a bit of basic platforming. I'm only a few chapters into the story, though - hopefully the gameplay becomes a bit more involved and a bit more complex later on.

Still occasionally jumping into Arkham City to try and track down remaining Riddler trophies. Otherwise I'm not much into starting new games until I've got Mass Effect 3. I'm kind of giddy with anticipation for that one. I am considering a brand new ME character playthrough so that I can be fully immersed by the time ME3 arrives. But I don't think I'll have the time.

If you do start a new game DON'T do it on Insanity. This is taking me ages! My mate made a game on Normal while he was round and in about an hour and a half he got to the same point I'm at. Which has taken me 3 days.
It's tons of fun though, especially with the new DLC. I can't wait for Mass Effect 3, it looks epic and the graphics are gorgeous.

I still never beat ME2 on Insanity. Partly because iit took forever (and yeah, I can bulldoze through the games on Normal), but mostly because I got to the Collector's ship and can't get past this one part. Granted, I only tried a few times, but I just got way too frustrated and then Arkham City showed up in the mail and I got distracted. Too bad too, because I had actually gotten very good at Insanity and really wanted to see it through to the end. I'll finish it eventually, but probably not until after I've exhausted ME3 a bit.
