General question to everyone: Why are you doing the job you're doing right now?

Well, I figured there’ll always be demand for cattle inseminators…

In all seriousness, I love music. It’s my greatest pleasure to think, talk and write about music. I love to analyze, contextualize and decontextualize music and pop culture. That said, the freelancer’s life has gotten a good deal more challenging ever since the music industry has taken a bit of a nose dive but I’m not complaining.

I'm doing the job because I think I can make a difference and always wanted to be a teacher.

Because I like working for the Army and my "deployments" now are a month long at very most, I know when I'm coming home, I stay in hotels, and no one's trying to kill me. Plus, it's fun, I've been told I'm good at it and I work with a great group of people.

What is your current job?

Also, what drew you to the Army? Did you intend to be career military when you signed up, or did you just intend to do a tour or two and ended up staying longer?

Ah yes you did. That was a good beer to have during that con.

To anyone who watches the NFL: What player would you like to sit and have a beer with?

But then we might find out what Jefferson really looks like. I'm not sure I'm ready for that.

Because if my profs had more research grants, I would probably work for them full time, but they don't. I want to be able to afford the things I want, so I am currently working for as a call center representative, in the insurance field. It pays well for a student job, it offers me a good schedule, and my job is very easy going regarding booked holidays. They allowed me to take a month off in august this year to travel to Eastern Europe.

I might buy you a beer, Tony. Unless it turns out I hate you. In which case I won't.

I'm doing my current job because I love the fields I am teaching very much and because I like working with a lot of other people. I'm at the specific school I am at right now because when I was going through the schools to apply to, the school's description was weirdly quirky (it would've been just outside the distance I'd decided I was willing to travel, but I was swayed by that). Turns out it was a really good place to work at.

Well, the school isn't all that quirky, but the description in the job posting was. These things are usually what you would expect, mainly about the aspects of learning they put emphasis on and the special projects they have and all that. This school's was the only one that said stuff like "we've got the best latte macchiato this side of the Sieg" (which is a river). Didn't take itself seriously, which... just isn't what you do in these descriptions. So I decided to take a look at it.

I decided to stay because it just felt right, it had a good atmosphere. It seemed like everybody liked everybody else (I've never before seen a school in which every one on the staff (excepting only the headmaster, really) is on a first-name basis with you more or less from day one, and where there's such a permeating sense of good humour and goodwill. And it's not afraid of trying new things and developing, and whenever you decide you want to pursue a certain project, you'll be supported. So I am still happy with my decision, even if it takes me up to an hour to get to work.

And were they telling the truth about the coffee?

I used to love making latte macchiatos, it's a mini-bit of performance art.
