I have absolutely no idea what's going on in that trailer but the description that blwwdingcool posted of the plot makes it sound like Escape from New York but set in space.

Spoiler

Edit: Spoilered it because Steve did, even though it's not really a spoiler.

Cabin in the Woods looks cool. The Lock-Out... well, the first minute made me laugh quite a bit, and the rest looks cool, too, if totally incoherent. Which is probably a good sign. I just hope the French had the budget for the kind of big movie they're obviously going for here... Besson is producing, though, I think, so that should be okay.

Not really - the "Cabin in the Woods" is something of a horror film sub-genre especially in insane slasher movies.

Cabin in the Woods didn't look like what I would have expected. But that's probably a good thing. Looks like a fun movie. And I'm a sucker for most things Whedon (and Goddard was one of my favorite Buffy/Angel writers).

I always confuse the title with Sam Raimi’s Within the Woods, the movie that sowed the seeds from which The Evil Dead burst forth.

Anyway, Lock-Out looks pretty cool in nicely gritty 80s way. And The Cabin in the Woods? Can’t freaking wait!

That one shot of the cabin was totally an Evil Dead quote. Probably not the only one, I expect.

The one where they arrived at the cabin right? I have a feeling there were lots of nods to the old school but I have a hard time pinpointing them all.

The gas station seemed very Texas Chainsaw Massacre-y too.

In other words; the archetype.

I have high hopes for this film and how it really plays with the toys of the subgenre.
