Just got Crysis 2 from Lovefilm, and although I've only played a little way in, I'm already finding it a bit disappointing. It's very pretty, but it feels a bit hollow and superficial. The gameplay has been pretty dull and FPS-by-numbers so far. And as I think Ben mentioned in an earlier thread, aiming seems pretty fiddly and overly precise. But then, I am a fan of the less thoughtful, more action-packed shooters.

Just to clarify, I was not at all impressed by Crysis, it may be the sequel's a different beastie.

Meanwhile I'm just wandering around Skyrim killing bandits, forsworn, trolls, frost trolls, bears, wolves, sabre cats and - oh, yes - the odd dragon or two!

Ah, yes, it was the first Crysis you were talking about, wasn't it? I never played that.

FPS by numbers is a pretty fair way to describe Crysis 2. You're meant to be some sort of bad ass killing machine suit thing but nothing about the gameplay made you feel that way. A lot of time was spent cowering behind cover waiting for your health or suit's power bar to recharge. The stealth side of the suit was pretty cool (and pretty useful for passing by gang of bad guys rather than engaging them) but the tactical HUD display (the yellow writing that flashed up) was useless.

I am currently playing nothing... Since the TV packed in this morning (now mentioned on at least 4 threads whoooo) and the old school replacement arriving I've not been able to find the scart adaptor for the 360. Looks like I will be going cold turkey for a few days minimum. Or I could just boot up the desktop system and play some Blood Bowl. Either that or get some angry birds action in...

just bought m'self a ps3, which came with ALL THREE uncharted games. they're amazing games, unlike anything i've every played, and make me feel completely vindicated in my purchase. currently finishing up uncharted 2.

Even though I'm not a heavy gamer, I love my PS3 - as much for all the media stuff it does as for the gaming.

Still, if you're new to PS3ing I can recommend checking out the God of War and Resistance series, both of which I had a lot of fun with.

Just noticed that I too am getting Crysis 2 via lovefilm... Not that I will be able to play it, I still can't find the damn scart adapter socket thing for my 360. It is looking more and more likely that it got packed up and shipped off when we cleared the house out ready for selling...

I recommend Yakuza 3 for a lower-profile PS3 exclusive.

Also, for making your PS3 work hard, KIllzone 2 and 3 are well worth a play.

And of course, if you've a high tolerance for cut-scenes, Metal Gear Solid 4.

Skyrim. Skyrim. Skyrim.

Such an amazing game.

I've found over 200+ locations now...

There's still loads to find, plus clear out, plus the quests, plus the dragons, plus the main quest.....

It's insane! Arguably the best £36 I've spent on a game, but still insane!

Oh, I haven't heard of that. Might check it out.

Oh yeah, I'm still halfway through Killzone 3. Lots of fun, and a bit more varied than a lot of FPSs (including Resistance, which makes up for in atmosphere what it lacks in originality and variety).

yeah, i mostly got it because i was already looking at blu-ray players, and with the recent price drop, it only made sense.

i was big into my ps2, and always assumed i'd be getting a ps3, until they debuted with a $600 price point. but now that i've got one, i can finally catch up on the series(es?) i've been missing out on. god of war 3 and mgs4 are at the top of the list. i've heard good things about the yakuza series; i'll definitely give that a look.

Same story here - I was PlayStation through and through. Until I saw the PS3's price tag. Any sense of brand loyalty went out the window when I saw I could save a hundred quid on a 360. The only game I've been sore about missing is MGS4... some day, maybe.

Likewise, got a launch PS1, had a PS2 for years, but didn't bother with the PS3 until years later when I got one used. I like it well enough, but it was never worth more than $300.

Finished the Saints Row 3 main story due to being off work ill. Not done with it though - going to go back to it to get all the side missions, assassinations, etc. Installing Dead Island onto the HD at the minute. Not holding out too much hope for it though since most of the reviews I've read online have been pretty week and posters on here have been less than enamoured with it.

There's a demo of RAGE up on XBLA. Got it queued for download. Want to see how good it is and whether or not is is deserving of a spot on my Love Film list. The accolades of "From the creators of DOOM and QUAKE" only buy so much good will...
