I missed YJ this weekend, Don. Spoil me on Wally and Artemis.

It was sweet.

Just saw the (Green) Arrow trailer - actually looks pretty good. Definitely more The Dark Knight than Avengers.

Wait what? There's going to be a Green Arrow movie?

Cool.

I'll certainly give it a try. I'm still not sure why they didn't just spin off Smallville though.

It was a good move... Smallville fans will recognize the characters, but new potenital viewers won't be hindered by all the back story + they might just be interested by the whole modern Robin-Hood theme.

This week's YJ, with the Flash family, was terrific. Some great speedster stuff, more Speedy(!) and excellent cliffhanger.

If anything, YJ just gets better and better - I think it's one of the best DC series ever. I'm surprised there's not more discussion of it on Millarworld.

And it's ballsy how they're taking their time revealing everything, isn't it? I think the scene at the end will take all season (maybe longer?) to fully explain.

Question: are any of the DC cartoon movies of recent years as good as (or close) to YJ in terms of quality?

maybe I need to see more, but that guy is too much Batman and not enough Ollie Queen. Green Arrow has always been, to me at least, like the movie version of Tony Stark in personality. This guy's performance might have been okay for Conner, but not Ollie.

I believe that's what he was like in Smallville too. They didn't have the rights to Batman so they just turned Green Arrow into the same type of character.

It's certainly a more unified story to do it this way. He's stranded on the island due to an assassination attempt on his father. That's what motivates him when he is rescued. I wonder if his father is really dead. Or his brother?

Also it seems like he's facing gangsters and criminals. Will we see a Joker type antagonist arise?

None of the ones I've seen have been.

Just got caught up on YJ. Very enjoyable recently, even though I'm not really a DC fan. This latest PAD-written episode was a lot of fun.

I'm guessing they'll do what they did last season and wrap up most of the storylines at the end of the season and use the climax to create stories for S3, like they did with the Red Arrow/Speedy plot this year.

The main focus is the Invasion though, so I imagine the Impulse stuff will turn out to be connected to that and we'll wrap it up at the end of the season.

Loved the "Bloodlines" episode of Young Justice: Invasion. I think this is the first time Jay, Barry, Wally and Bart have been together outside of the comics. At one point I thought Barry was going to die and Wally would take over being the Flash (like in the comics). Interesting twist at the end though.

I really could do without the whole Red Arrow/Roy Harper clone storyline though. I hate that character. Such a downer.

YJ continues to kick ass. Hell, I think that was the first time Barry and Wally have both been in the same series, and the first time Bart has appeared! Impulse, ###-yeah! That episode was awesomes all around. I like how they tied Bart's origins into the ongoing plotline for the series, but kept a lot of the core elements of it. It looks like the Reach will succeed in taking over the earth if he doesn't manage to stop them somehow. Does anyone recognize "neutron"? I was thinking that he might have been a riff off of Wildfire from the Legion, since they moved Bart they might move them too. I'm also hoping that "original recipe" Roy becomes Arsenal, and then goes all evil on them, and "fake" Roy has to own up to being the hero he really is.

Neutron reminds me of Mota, a villain from The Flash 50th Anniversary Special some years ago. John Fox went back in time to get help from all the different Flashes to help him defeat Mota in his own era. Mota later reappeared in The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive series and teamed up with Inertia to fight (then grown-up) Bart.

EDIT: more info about Mota here: http://www.hyperbore...flash/mota.html

Young Justice: Invasion

Re: Depths

Great episode. The Return of Artemis and Aqualad, a death on the team, some revealing info on Miss Martian and Superboy's breakup (more serious than I thought it was) and a great twist at the end. Very smart play by Nightwing and gang here. Can't wait to see how this plays out.

CBR put together a list of female DC characters they want to see get their own films: http://www.comicbook...rticle&id=39129

Personally, the only ones I can really see working are Wonder Woman, Batwoman (if they adapt "Elegy") and Supergirl.

I'd go with Evan Rachel Wood to play Batwoman though. I think she'd be good in the role.

Batwoman could be tough. The comparisons to Batman would be pretty tough to overcome, even though the character herself has only the most tenuous connection to him. I'd almost think it'd be easier to just use the basic plot outline and not involve "the bat" at all. I really don't think any of these characters are well suited to a solo movie, but several could fit into an ensemble cast, and Manhunter would have some potential for a TV series.

I think if they did Batwoman: Elegy as a movie it could really work, though there would have to be some changes. The flashbacks to her childhood and her time in the military could be done at the beginning of the film, instead of the end. All the stuff with Abbott and his shapeshifters could be cut out. Batman really only needs to make a cameo in it (the first time Kate means him in the alley way).

A Wonder Woman movie could work too if they used the "Gods and Monsters" story line by George Perez as a template.

I'd like to see a Supergirl movie just because I like the character, but I think her origin story would be a tough sell, especially since she really doesn't have her own Rogues gallery or any sort of memorable supporting cast.

My point is, why involve Batman at all? The connection is so inconsequential to her character. Just tell the same basic story, the childhood tragedy, the military stuff, etc., except that instead of wearing a black and red bat suit, she dresses more like that girl in Punisher, or maybe she goes for a noir vamp look, just nothing "batty". The Batman connection works for the books, since it's all part of a huge shared world, I just don't see any point to incorporating it if they do a movie. Now, if she were a character more intimately connected to Batman, like one of the Robins or even Barbara Gordon, then I could see the value in retaining it, but he barely makes a cameo in her life story, and his connection to the project would be a distraction. They can say it's in Gotham, hint that Batman and all his mess is around, but he never needs to appear, or even be named.
