Superherohype have a copy of Empire, in which Nolan explains, "It's really all about finishing Batman and Bruce Wayne's story. We left him in a very precarious place. Perhaps surprisingly for some people, our story picks up quite a bit later, eight years after 'The Dark Knight.' So he's an older Bruce Wayne; he's not in a great state. With Bane, we're looking to give Batman a challenge he hasn't had before."

WOW! 8 years later! Definitely did not see that coming!

Man...I cannot wait for this movie. It is FIGHTING Avengers pretty hard for my most anticipated movie of next year!

That's very interesting. And makes me even more hopeful that Nolan is going to be able to pull off something akin to Miller's Dark Knight Returns with this final part of the trilogy, in spirit even if not in terms of the story details.

I big time jump makes sense considering how the last one ended. I was hoping Nolan would do something like this. Sounds like it might be his version of The Dark Knight Returns. Can't wait to see the final product.

Interesting take on the drug Bane uses. Essentially, it sounds like nitrous oxide or morphine gas... which should chill the brother out, right?

Maybe it's vaporized cocaine. That's a stimulant and an anesthetic.

Agreed. There would be something very nice about Nolan's "Batman" movies telling a complete story, with a beginning, middle, and end.

It's certainly going to be interesting to see what kind of ending we get. I suspect that Bruce may be unmasked by the end of it all. I wonder if Nolan will let Bruce actually lay down his burdens at the end of it all. It'd be kind of cool to see a Batman story where Bruce finally is able to put his parents death behind him. Or maybe he'll just die.

I see the laying down of the burden as being far more likely than a death.

I'm also thinking we're getting A LOT of misdirection about this movie. There is far too much stuff getting leaked. Nolan is super tight-lipped usually...so I am kind of shocked at the sheer volume of info we're seeing. I am guessing some of what we're seeing isn't accurate. This happened quite a bit with The Dark Knight.

This is a more anticipated film than the Dark Knight (considering how well it did in the b.o compared to BB). The spies are just being diligent-er.

Exactly. I'd like to know what misdirection we're actually getting... does anyone think Bane and Catwoman aren't in it, or that the latest Bat-vehicle isn't a VTOL Batwing, or that there isn't a huge riot on the streets of Gotham?

Apparently the whole thing is just going to be Bruce Wayne and Alfred chatting over dinner. For two and a half hours. The title derives from the bit where Bruce has to get up from the table to go and use the gents. Tom Hardy plays the waiter, I believe.

He needs to be in Batman costume for that to work, but then? Pure genius. I'd watch that not once but like a dozen times, I am sure.

But then, my wife has declared me crazy for watching Jarmusch's Stranger Than Paradise like ten times.

Even better.

But then, my wife has declared me crazy for watching Jarmusch's Stranger Than Paradise like ten times.

I was thinking more of My Dinner With Andre. :)

They should remake MY DINNER WITH ANDRE... except secretly they are superheroes!

I suppose that works even without the remake. Just add a scene at the end where they change into their costumes before leaving.

I remember loving MDWA, but now I can't remember anything about it.

True. A Jarmusch version would have them sitting at dinner for ninety minutes and have like ten lines of dialogue. Lots of smoking and awkward silences to fill the rest of the time.

I watched it a while ago for the first time in a long time. Great movie but I found myself quite disturbed by Andre.

Andre Gregory was and still is, I suppose, a very eccentric and edgy character.

See if you recognize him in this clip:

He joined again with Malle and Shawn in the movie VANYA ON 42nd STREET which is also amazing. They used Mamet's version of the script as well so the language didn't feel out of place.
