Seeing as the big photography thread in the Pub went the way of all flesh and figuring that this is about as creative as I get, thought I'd do a thread in here for my photographs.

I take most of my pics with a Sony Alpha 550, and do a mixture of playing around with what I've got to hand, and wherever I happen to be. Bits and pieces of what I take end up in my Flickr photostream at thefourthcraw, and there will always be more there than here.

Comments and criticism much welcomed.

Anyway, a few since the last time I posted:

I don't know anything about photography but I do know what I like. Therefore I conclude that I like these snaps. Just a question about the signs on the beach:
do they really say that or did you photoshop them?

Thanks Ditta and yes, they really said that. And this:

and a few more. Brilliant piece of public art.

That was our best bear impression by the way.

Wow Mike. I must say good work! My father and grandfather were heavily into photography and I will say your stuff is really good.

I've always liked black and white photos. Yours are damn good. I could see myself hanging a few of these photos in my place.

Keep it up and keep adding them. I like to gaze at photos and create a story just from the photo.

Some really cool use of focal planes there, Mike, and really vibrant colour when you use it.

And as an Aberdonian, I cant help but get a little bit excited by the first shot of the Mad Mouse. That's the same one thats been there since the 70's isn't it, judging by the shape of it?
(Oddly enough, Adelaide also has a very old rollercoaster called the Mad Mouse...)

Thanks all ... and yeah, I love how bleak the rollercoaster looks in that shot. It's the same one that's been there since I was a kid growing up in Aberdeen in the early 80s Mike, so I assume it's the original.

Haven't had a chance to take that many this week, been busy - a couple playing with candles and a Venetian facemask I had lying around:

Great photos Mike - pure eye-candy!

Those signs are brilliant, I might need to check them out when I'm in Aberdeen on Monday.

Lego Excalibur! Damn smart.

But how did you get that one of the moggy? Guess some patience was needed to ensure you got the shot?

No, he sauntered right up to me and said "Look what I did! Amn't I a clever cat!".

He then proceeded to let the lizard go on the grass, accidentally bit its tail off, which wriggled violently, while the rest of the lizard went dead still, then slowly slunk away to regrow its tail and live to pretend to be lunch another day.

My mother pronounced the entire thing disgusting. Me and my niece were going "COOOOOOOL!"

COOOOOOL!

Great photos, Mike, some real crackers here. I really like the one of the ice cream, the plaque, the bird statues and, of course, the cat.

That story reminds me of my dog, Henry, a bit. One time he found a dead rabbit and brought it to me, pretending he'd caught it and was really pleased with himself - despite the fact we'd walked past it earlier, so I knew he hadn't got it. There's also the fact that he chases rabbits all the time and when they get tied, which is when dogs usually go in to finish them, he just sits and lets the confused little thing catch it's breath! Endearing little guy. He seems to be very much about the 'thrill of the chase'.
