Nice job Sean. I like the backlit glow of the explosion on the figures.

Last day of my term break, so back to work on Monday teaching the kiddies... bleah...

Anyway... believe it or not the background to this started off as yellow! Then I realised how sucky that looked. Still this one overall, while nice, lacks that little bit of 'pizzzazz' to me *shrugs*

pencils = jim lee
inks = boysicat at deviantart.com (high res is in his gallery - hit the download button)

never done a jim lee picture before now! :)

I think you did a great job. You lay down the colors well. Professional grade all the way.

Side by side I would definately said yours is better then the original. They are close..but the subtle brightness and smart use of efx make all the difference.

Looks great. Is this a cover for an upcoming issue? Or something that was done just for fun?

Nice Work on the colouring, Sean. Been a fan of your work on Renderosity for a while now, though it's been some time since I've been on there.

Do you get a lot of paid gigs?

You do awesome work. The shading is great. Professional work.

I do have a crit. I do believe Superman and WW to a degree need to be more primary and bright...It would pop them out of the background a lot more.

Still no denying the incredible quality and clean craftmanship of your work.

Fantastic colour-work as usual Sean, I quite like the sunset glows and the smoke off the gun.

Are you working on sequentials, I'd love to see some.

About 8 years ago, when I knew pretty much bugger-all about colouring comics, I coloured a low res version of this picture. I didn't know how to make the lineart a channel, didn't know what a colour hold was, barely was able to use the gradient and smudge tool in photoshop and certainly didn't have a clue what lighting was all about...(some might say nothing much has changed :P ..)

Yet I was able to get that version published in a book (with official permission from Matt Hawkins at topcow comics of course) Here it is!! --> http://www.seaneller...rodite_book.jpg

Anyway, about a year ago or so I got hold of the high res B&W file for the same picture so this week I decided to do it again, just for the heck of it. It's the first time I've ever recoloured a picture that I've done previously as well!

pencils = David Finch
inks = Joe Weems

That's really great stuff. the only colouring i've done is to digitally paint my drawings, but i'm not up will all the techniques, mines more brutal than refined. If I did an inked pinup would you be interested in splashing some colours on it? Have you tried any digital inking? i hear they make pretty good money now.

The girl is meant to be an undead creation of the 'Darkness' but I wanted it to look like Sara Pezzini instead since I'm just colouring this for fun (witchblade fams will know what I'm rabbitting on about...)
