Went to the recording of the second episode of this. Very funny, although a bit of a rambling shapeless adventure. Based on the number of extra out-of-context Brooker had to shoot at the end, I expect the final broadcast version to be fairly mercilessly edited to make it a bit more focused. Frank Skinner and Josie Long were both very funny, with Grace Dent this week playing the part of the empty chair.

How did they handle Torchwood? I mentioned in the other thread I don't think they were expecting it to be any good and just to be as easy a target as the old series would be.

They were pretty nice about it, with the exception of Grace Dent who admitted she just didn't like scifi as a whole. The others managed to find plenty of small things to rib it for, but had to admit the overall quality was pretty high.

I've gotta say that even though I've been following Josie Long's work on Radio for the last couple of years I've never seen her live or on the Telly . . . um . . . I'm gonna need some personal time here . . .

Yep, the "my funeral's better than your funeral" bit was great!

Hopefully they'll have three good panelists on the show next week.

I'd never heard of her before, she apppears to be a generic "broadcaster" type - http://en.wikipedia....wiki/Grace_Dent

She's a TV critic. Her Big Brother columns for the Radio Times were often very funny. She's not a professional comedian though, so she was never going to compare to Frank Skinner or Josie Long.

just watched the +1.

josie long made me say "who's the pretty girl?" grace dent is ok. i sometimes like her, but she can be a bit bitchy in a way i don't like sometimes. frank skinner was frank skinner, although to a lesser degree that he is on his own shows, not surprisingly.

I've seen Josie Long on TV a few times before. She played the guidance councillor on Skins.

The funeral-off was incredible.

Honest Question: Had Richard Bacon watched the show before? Couple of times in there he looked genuinely baffled as to what was going on...

I thought he did okay. He certainly wasn't an "empty chair" as I've seen some of the other guests described. It's a bit of a worry that they're repeating guests so soon though.

Next week's TV Club is Casualty. I honestly had no idea it was still on..!

I don't mind them repeating guests when they're as good as Boyle and Long. If they were repeating people like Grace Dent and Jamelia, then you have to be worried.

For those with iPlayer access, Brooker was on the last half an hour of the Jonathan Ross radio show on Saturday, will still be on for a couple of days.

As for the repeating guests thing, I agree that I don't mind if they're good. I'd be happy to see all three from this week back :)
