Two albums arrived in the mail today:

 

 

Super Meat Boy 2CD soundtrack and Weedeater - 16 Tones. Have both of these as digital downloads but got the physical albums too. Nothing to do with an audiophile mp3 vs cd mindset - I just like owning actual real life things.

Met up with my folks this evening and got passed on a late Xmas present from my brother:

 

Painkiller+-+50th+Birthday+Celebration+V

 

John Zorn's 50th Birthday Celebration Volume 12. Sounds, from the wikipedia entry, like it might be a bit too avent garde for a Saturday night though so I'll save it for tomorrow.

Inspired to put this album on by reading the Legion of Super-Heroes:

 

 

I think it's their best album. Well, second best after Tales of Mystery and Imagination, probably.

Rest In Peace to the Ohio Players frontman Leroy "Sugarfoot" Bonner. The Ohio Players were one of the most devastating funk bands of the 70's but they're mostly remembered now for their groundbreaking and sexually provocative album covers and Sugarfoot's giant afro.  Their well known hits include "Fire" and "Love Rollercoaster" but this is my favorite song by them.

Bought 9 albums for a drive to Cairngorms that me and my wife ending up cancelling due to a death in the family. Been doing a bit of driving in 45 min back and forward bursts and Crystal Castles - (III) has barely left the cd player. Hard to pigeon hole but it's like a big bag of progressive house, dubsteb and distorted euphoric trance vocals and chords and it's the freshest thing I've listened to in a few years.
