...Cool?
Well it definitely looks like they're keep the NuDC idea of the costume being a part of his Kryptonian heritage.

As a matter of a fact, the first thing that came to my mind was François the 1st.

I am not sure if he wanted to do this approach, but it's working for me

I don't hate it. I don't really love it. It does interest me.

Yes, it certainly looks like he's wearing the costume underneath that robe thing.

Nicely done mixing Clark's superhero look and Kryptonian/Regal fashion.

I've just realised this film isn't out until June 2013. That's an usually long production schedule, unless they just didn't want it to get lost among all the other big superhero movies this year.
Probably wise on the WB's part too...considering 3 other powerhouse, superhero movies are dropping this next year (TDKR, Avengers, ASM). Those first 2, I think, are going to make wicked-cash. ASM I don't know about...but considering the popularity of the character....I wouldn't want the Man of Steel going up against it, either.
I am actually irritated with myself, as to how much that image resonates with me. I was content with going in without expectations...and now there is that ever so slight...glimmer of hope that it could be good in the back of my head...

I wouldn't worry too much about that as long as Znyder is at the helm.

Perhaps the WB realized they didn't have a major tentpole movie for the Summer of 2013? With Snyder directing, it's probably going to be a better fit for Summer than Christmas time anyway.

There was talk a long time ago about WB wanting to alternate their 'big three' - Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman - so that each one had a movie come out every three years.Perhaps the WB realized they didn't have a major tentpole movie for the Summer of 2013? With Snyder directing, it's probably going to be a better fit for Summer than Christmas time anyway.
Obviously there aren't any plans for WW that we know of yet, but maybe the thinking is along those lines.

As far as DC's super women go, I think Supergirl is as popular in general and Power Girl is maybe even more popular in comics.

But it looks like they're avoiding Star Trek 2 and Iron Man 3 anyway.

Makes me think they raided Hopkins' wardrobe from THOR.

Visually, that's kinda what I expect this movie to be - generic and safe like THOR or STAR TREK but with a bigger budget. Hopefully, it won't look as bad as GREEN LANTERN.

In terms of audience recognition Wonder Woman is still going to win out against anyone else after Superman or Batman. Supergirl might be up there, but mostly because of her connection to Superman, no-one outside of comic fandom could identify Captain Marvel in a line-up.On the other hand, the "Big Three" is really not all that accurate. Wonder Woman has never had popularity approaching anything like Superman's or Batman's. Honestly, out of all the characters DC owns, I think Captain Marvel (or Thunder) has been more popular for longer and still has more potential to break out in film. That would be my "trinity" Batman, Superman and SHAZAM!
As far as DC's super women go, I think Supergirl is as popular in general and Power Girl is maybe even more popular in comics.
Having said that, the gap between the "top two" and "third position" is still a pretty big drop.
'Green Lantern' did not fail because of it's look.Makes me think they raided Hopkins' wardrobe from THOR.

I really wouldn't call 'Thor' or even 'Star Trek' generic and safe. Certainly 'Thor' got enough people moaning about it to indicate they took a road less travelled.

Honestly, though, the Marvel movies (including X-MEN, HULK and FANTASTIC FOUR, oddly) generally cheap out on the visual aspect - they don't really look cinematic - but I don't expect SUPERMAN to be cheap... just predictable. I pretty much think that Warner Bros is going to analyze, oversee and micromanage every second of this movie.
