I would say that Once Upon a Time was the worst TV I watched this year. I still watched all of it, but it was excruciating a lot of the time.

Check out the pilot for Go On. It was surprisingly good and I was surprised at how much I laughed during it. Not sure how much legs it has, especially the weird creepy guy, but at least for now it has me interested.

Done! I am watching this tonight.

I watched the first part of 'A Touch of Cloth'. It was really spot on with the cliches of the British (and other) detective shows, the chase scene was the highlight, but I think it suffered from being too clever at times. Gags were being thrown around in certain places faster than you could register them, there must have been a dozen or more sight gags in the background I didn't have time to grasp.

It's tricky, you don't want to labour a gag too much (and they did in other places like the erection joke or the screaming in the bath) but I think if they got the pacing right it could get belly laughs, as it was it got sniggers.

I thought the second episode was better. I particularly enjoyed the various ways his name was used, ("You're facing the sack Cloth!" etc.) and if there are a few gags that don't work, there's usually another along in a few seconds that does.

Still haven't watched it yet - but from the descriptions it sounds very Police Squad!, which is no bad thing in my book. :)

i'm watching deep impact. it's so funny. they're in space bobbing up and down on wires but all their hair is flat on their heads and there's just loose stuff lying around the place not doing anything haha.

And I did, and "Go On" really was a lot of fun. The ending was a bit much, but other than that... I especially liked that the first episode moved very quickly. Still find it hard to imagine where they'll go from here, though - the first ep felt like it could've been a movie in itself, but what do you do with this next? Be interesting to see what the answer is.

It's nice to see Matthew Perry in a series that works again, anyway.

Exactly, I don't see it lasting maybe a season but honestly more than that and I feel like they're going to run out of material. Certainly any more and their characters are going to start coming off as sad sacks who can't move on.

Go On's problem will be that it's on NBC, and in the same timeslot as both New Girl and Happy Endings. I hope it does well though. I didn't love the pilot, but parts of it were enjoyable.

Oh it's definitely more Police Squad than Scary Movie. I'll watch the second episode tomorrow but my complaint is a strange one in the sense there were too many jokes at times. There were sight gags and verbal gags happening at the same time. I couldn't quite keep up. Some sight gags flew past the screen and I didn't catch them (like the lesbian partner bit, I got the KD Lang ringtone and the fridge with Condoleeza Rice on it but think I may have missed a half dozen others there).

It's the old cliche of comedy being about the timing. If they manage the pacing better in future it could be great.

I'm watching the Touch of Cloth double-bill now and enjoying it hugely. It really is like a modern-day Police Squad. One of the few comedies that I really feel like I want to watch a couple more times to make sure I catch all the jokes. Like you say, gar, they're so thick and fast that you inevitably miss some of them.

I liked Touch of Cloth. the jokes are a bit too fast for me at times though. had to pause a few times to catch all the background stuff. the "that looks a bit nasty" ward amused me highly.

One of the wards was called the "Pause Button OCD Ward" too.

I liked the poster on the wall in Oldman's kitchen - a wallchart showing "Fruits Other Than Oranges".

Working my way through Green Wing again. It makes most TV comedy these days look woefully safe by comparison.

For UK/Ireland people who haven't seen it yet, Breaking Bad Season 4 went up on Netflix UK today.

i've never seen breaking bad. maybe it's time.

watched the hunger games. it was an enjoyable two and a half hours but given its plot, i would have preferred a grittier, darker telling. it also needed to be fleshed out more.
