Warning: Any mention in this thread of musicians "selling out" or how crusty old hippy music is still alive and well will be greeted with a picture of a punk rock kitten. It got old about a week ago, but if you want to carry on flogging that equine corpse, kindly take it to its own thread.

You have been warned.

I learned that Olympic gold medals are actually around 90% silver.

Omg. Robert Pattinson always kind of annoyed me because of that Twilight stuff, but he was on the Daily show and he actually seemed like a likeable fellow. Lesson learned.

he's always seemed like a nice guy. that doesn't mean twilight doesn't suck though. :)

i learned that as soon as you pack something away, you'll need it. i also learned that if you sleep with a knife under your pillow, you're bound to cut yourself.

And yet if you pack it away, you'll need it, so. . . catch 22. Maybe use a good sheath.

People who cut themselves with the knives they sleep with should not sleep with a gun!

Some people require practical advice.

The Passion Play Tour was quite good. As was Thick As a Brick.

Come to think of it, I've never seen you and Ian Anderson in the same room. Hmmm...

In 1936 there was a dinner held in honour of Jesse Owens after his amazing feats in the Berlin Olympics, held at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York.

Despite being the guest of honour he had to go up in the freight elevator because he was black.

Today I learned that Julian McMahon (Dr Doom, evil pervert plastic surgeon in Nip/Tuck) is the son of an ex-Prime Minister of Australia, the guy before Gough Whitlam, in fact.

That kind of flipped me out.

I learnt this from the STV website:

"Culture Club star Julian Clary is just one of the names being linked to the show. The Karma Chameleon singer and comedian has made a number of appearances on shows including Strictly Come Dancing, so he’s no stranger to reality TV. Can we expect to see him enter the famous house tonight?"

Ha ha, someone linked to it in The Guardian, where I do visit for news coverage.

I wonder if the person that wrote it is just completely ignorant of who Clary is or spent their entire lives thinking he and Boy George were the same person.
