Payday. Pay bills. Get prescriptions filled. Drop off form at DMV. Get smokes and gas. Drop off library books. Make appointment to see my friend who's in jail (Monday, I think). Buy some food. Check to-do list for what I didn't do. Go by LCS and pay tab. (Yep, still have enough on consignment I run a tab. My LCS is superb - thanks Brian and Elizabeth!) Go to the bank. On return home do at least two loads of laundry. Fall over dead-tired.

So ends another pretty hectic working day - with the dying whimper of my crushed dream of a long, uninterrupted summer break. In the end I had to read email addresses out loud to myself so as not to send my shit do the wrong people. It's all good though. Among other things I got to review the new Yeasayer album and it's fantastic! Nothing worse than reviewing bland, mediocre, inoffensive music. Hmmm, how about some cold beverages now?

Ah, hooray for the golden medicine! It never fails to work its wonders. As a fellow freelancer in a creative field, Steve, do you ever find it impossible to take some time off? Me, I just can't say no as I don't want to offend any clients, holidays or not.

It's not easy, but I tend to work odd hours occasionally, so I can have a bit of free time during the day. I'm single, which helps of course!

Working from home makes it very difficult to switch off sometimes though, because there's no separation between work and home.

Yeah, but we do get to work in our underwear all day if we're so inclined. Posted Image

My wife is self-employed, too (she's an art therapist/teacher but, unlike me, not working from home), which makes coordinating our schedules a bit of a nightmare sometimes. Every now and then I find myself waxing nostalgic about my ad agency days because I really liked the people there and some of the projects we worked on were pretty cool. All things considered, though, I'm better off now, mentally. The hours were even more grueling and don't get me started on office politics. Plus, I still get to join creative teams however temporarily and I find the chemistry among freelancers more refreshing than working in-house.

Somewhat more on topic, currently restringing my bass guitar.

So yesterday, I had laverbread and cockles for breakfast. It was great. Then had a great walk along the coast to Three Cliffs Bay, which is brilliant, and visited a tiny castle (actually a manor) ruin at Oxwich. I also learned how to pronounce Llewelyn.

I think I'm back on British time now - I went to bed at a normal time and woke up at a normal time. Only minimum napping was required during the day to.
