They all appear to be playing themselves, and it's directed by Seth Rogen. Sounds like an appalling vanity project by him and his buddies. With any luck the end of the world will come before it's released.

Shall refrain from damning it til I see a trailer but I'm inclined to lean in Steve's direction based on what I've read about it.

Everything about it sounds bad except... Emma Watson.

I'd be game to go and see it, though I'll make my mind up when I see a trailer, as the majority of that cast have been hilarious, and I usually find them funnier when you can tell they're having fun. Easy A, Zombieland, Anchorman, Pineapple Express, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Knocked Up, Role Models - hell, even Your Highness had some good moments from Franco and McBride. And in the case of Rihanna, there's the Shy Ronnie by The Lonely Island video.

It might be a 'vanity' project, but so was Expendables really and it was a lot of fun. No, I didn't expect a world-breaking script that redefines how we look at cinema - nor will I for this. What I do expect is a group of comedians and funny people having a laugh and making me laugh too. If that's what I get, then I'll be more than happy.

there's a movie called The End of the World coming out next year that has intrigued me. this is its description:

additional cast includes emma watson, paul rudd, jason segel, jonah hill, rihanna, danny mcbride, mindy kaling, and more. has anyone else heard about this?

There was a promotional/proof concept video online a while ago. It was pretty terrible, basically just Seth Rogan and Jay Baruchel yelling at one another from what I remember.

EDIT: Found it and yup, as unpleasant as I remember it being.

Annoyingly, it's out in the US at the start of October but not over here until December.

What is it, a Disney film?

I've never seen any of the Mad Max movies. Worth watching?

Yep.

...yes. Yes they are.

Well, the first one is really good. The second one is interesting in where it takes the whole thing, with road warrior battles for survival in a post-apocalyptic landscape and all that. The third... I think it was a bit meh. Mind you, I watched them all when I was like fifteen, so I don't remember it all that well Posted Image

Oh dear. Somebody has forgotten to
tell Arnie that he can't actually act again, haven't they?

Well, Stallone is famously bad at acting, but he's made at least one awesome film, where he plays a cop/sheriff. Hmmm?

Time to bring out that great Paul Bettany interview from the Dogville days again:

von Trier is awesome.

But it is hard to imagine that he really got Kidman to sign up for that.

Plus, if that ridiculous LeBoef kid gets to have sex with my Nicole, I'll punch him in the nose if I ever meet him.

There are plenty of reasons to punch El Beef on the nose. Plenty.

Stallone was never famously bad at acting, not in the way Schwarzenegger is. Have you seen Rocky? Stallone was really good in that, as he was in Rambo. He's got a limited range, is his problem, he's got about one character he can do, but he does that one well (the latest Rocky was actually pretty good mainly on the strength of his performance). Whereas Schwarzenegger hasn't got a Rocky. He simply can't act. At all. It's quite terrifying to see him try, really.

Arnie is more of a one-liner delivery machine than an actor.

That said, he is one hell of a one-liner delivery machine!

He has a ton of charisma. It's that charisma that made him a bodybuilding champion (yes, it's overwhelmingly physical, but everyone says you have to psych people out and win over the audience and judges too), then a movie star and then a politician.

Does he still have it? I guess we'll see.

Cop Land! I miss Cop Land. He was pretty good in Rocky Balboa too.

But yeah, I really don't think Arnie has much appeal unless he's playing a bad guy or a robot. Or preferably both.

Arnold's best character is still himself. The guy in Pumping Iron was an act to some extent, and he was electric on screen. It's a shame they never created a movie franchise where Arnie could basically be himself.

I fear Arnold's best days are behind him by quite a long way now, and modern audiences won't have much time for him. He's getting very close to becoming a clown rather than an action star, but judging by that trailer he's wise to at least try the Clint Eastwood model.

yeah I referenced Cop Land earlier. Arnie hasn't given anything like that kind of performance. He's a darn good Terminator though. He doesn't do a hell of a lot of "acting" as such in the first film, but there's little doubt in my mind that the film wouldn't have been the hit it is without him. Stallone is in some good films, but I'll definitely prefer to watch an average Schwarzenegger film than an average Stallone film.

Eh, I still think he's great in Predator, Twins, True Lies, and Kindergarten Cop. I mean, he's no award winning actor, but I've enjoyed him in a lot of movies.

So have many other people.

As an actor he has no range, as a star his appeal is broad and he had success in a wide variety of roles. Box office success anyway.

What a terrible, terrible trailer. If someone says "You have no idea what's coming for you"...well that's always true isn't it? Nobody every knows what's coming for them so why even say it. It's one of those bad lines you hear everywhere all the time in every stupid action movie.
