Did I just become interested in Superman film? Surely not, right? I mean, that never happens.

I'd forgotten Amy Adams was in this.

I should like to advance the opinion that anyone who actually does squee, scream, yell or cheer during a movie trailer deserves to have their spine ripped out through their arse before being bludgeoned to death with their own skull. People are trying to listen, you jerks! Save it until after!
Interesting looking trailer, but unfortunately includes Snyder slomo. I was hoping he could lay off for a movie or two.

I love the line, "it's not from this world, Clark. And neither are you." There's a real sense of sadness in Costner's delivery, as though feels like he's let Clark down.
Of course that could well be a line that works better in the trailer than it does in the movie.

Nah, that was just regular slomo, not Snyder slomo.
Love the trailer, hope it'll come out in better quality soon. What interests me most here is that Snyder's entire visuality seems very different. It seems to me like this time, the film won't look artificial but that he's tried to make it look as real as possible, which was the approach I would have liked to see with Watchmen. It was a shame he didn't use it there - maybe this is Nolan's influence.

Nolan said he'd be very hands off with 'Man of Steel'.
He had to retract that later because Warners objected (and they're paying him to put his stamp on the film) but that was what he said.

And I do not doubt that that is true, but this is the kind of conceptual decision that may have been made in very early talks.

It does have something of a Nolanesque feel, but I think Snyder's prints are all over it. Like I mentioned, the imagery reminds me more of a Michael Bay movie than Nolan's more stark visual approach. Around a year ago when the Secret Origins hardcover was published, Goyer was in the middle of writing the Man of Steel screenplay and cited it as the inspiration for his vision of Clark Kent. The teaser implies a bit of the wandering man-god of Philip Wylie's Gladiator, and it seems like we're going to get a bit of Clark searching for his purpose as well as denying his destiny. The part of Secret Origins that Goyer cited specifically was when Jon Kent reveals the truth to Clark and the boy's response is that he didn't want to be different. He wanted to be his son - a normal kid.

They also seem to be playing on the "feared and mistrusted" trope of the X-Men. That woman who says her son saw what Clark did was saying it in an accusatory tone, and he's clearly wanted by the authorities, so maybe that's why he goes on an odyssey. Presumably he's treated with suspicion until the real bad guys show up.

True - what we've seen so far indicates that he initially sees his condition as a curse that prevents him from doing anything. However, the revelation of him costumed also seems to follow the Donner version pretty closely.

This footage is ridiculous. I get goosebumps every time I watch it! Hopefully the full movie lives up to the standard set here. Cannot wait!

I'd love to see a clearer version, but from what I could make out, that looks pretty great.

Eventually WB will have to release the actual promo online in good quality... or I'll be forced to dress as Bane and lead a torchbearing army to the studio's gates.
I know where you live, Warners!
