So, should we start taking bets on wether Walter will be redeemed by the end of the series? Or is he just gonna go full-blown supervillain?
Heck, is he even redeemable at this point? =S

Some are suggesting it's so that's it eligible for Emmys this year and next (remember the year it won nothing because it was scheduled too late for one year and too early for the next?).
Season 1 was only 7 episodes including Pilot.
Anyways, can't wait to watch the first episode of the penultimate season when I finish work.
Although I can't get the channel due to SKY and Virgin's petty diputes I don't know why SKY Atlantic isn't all over this show.
Dunno if it's because there isn't a UK broadcaster to steal it off of . . .

What's bugging me is billing this as the last season when we get 8 episodes and then a wait until this time next year for the last 8 . . . don't care how you do the maths that's 2 seasons.

It's partly a contractual thing. Some actors, etc have built-in raises for each season, so it saves them money to just call it one 16-episode season.
Loved the new episode. Looking forward to seeing how we get to that teaser scene.

Is there any way to watch this in the UK? I have a feeling I might have to wait until one of my mates gets the entire last series on his memory stick like I did with the previous four.
Outside the US, I believe the only legal way is via iTunes US, which you need an American credit card or US-based Paypal for. iTunes don't care where you are geographically, just where your money is.

Sadly the only way to get it in a timely manner is illicit means, and I justify this to myself as I still buy the BluRay when it comes out . . . but the US BluRays are one of the few discs which actually do region lock their BluRays.

Well, that was pretty good...

I think it will end with him completely broken, and/or someone he loves dead. I can't imagine it ending with him just smirking at the camera and walking away clean.

Spoilers for those who haven't seen the episode (but mostly just speculation having seen it).

So Walt's "celebrating" his 52nd Birthday in the FlashForward . . . he turned 50 at the start of Season1 (I think) and all of the series up to the end of season 4 occured over several months.

Yeah, either the cancer is back or it's some serious misdirection.
One of the first scenes of the pilot (maybe the first non-flashforward one) had Walt being given his breakfast with 50 spelled out in bacon, so this is two years later. Walt isn't 51 yet, so we've a while to go before we get to the diner.

I think they may make a leap forward in time with the "mid-season" break . . . listening to the Breaking Bad Insider PodCast they had considered doing the leap forward at the start of season 5, but there were too many loose ends to be left dangling for over a year in story time . . .Yeah, either the cancer is back or it's some serious misdirection.

It's weird that this is one of if not eh only show where if the main character is in a good mood it's scarier than when they're going mental.
