Marshall, the world's leading producer of guitar amplifiers, have branched out into headphones. They're fantastic!
am very tempted to buy these. such a reasonable price too.

As with anything Marshall, totally worth it.

“In terms of sound performance, they are among the worst you can buy,” says Tyll Hertsens, editor in chief of InnerFidelity.com, a site for audiophiles. “They are absolutely, extraordinarily bad.”

Good website.Beats by Dre are actually pretty crappy headphones. They're extremely over-priced and really only good for hip hop or bass-heavy music. If you look on the forums for Head-Fi, everyone will tell you that they sound horrible. They're a marketing gimmick for Monster Cables and certainly not made for the audiophile community.
I use Sony MDR-7506's, which are bog-standard studio/location recording headphones. They do a perfectly good job, and can be picked up for £80 easily and less if you shop around or try Ebay, which is where I got mine.

Those look good. I need to get me an over-the-ear pair of headphones. I'm currently using a pair of Shure earphones, which are great. I can't remember which model off the top of my head but I'll check when I get home. Shure makes some really good earphones.Good website.

They were originally $300 but I only paid $200. Ridiculously pricey but I used to be pretty irresponsible with my money. They are excellent headphones though. Shure makes quality stuff.

holy shite, i don't think i could part with $300 or even $200 for a pair of ear buds. i really despise mine though. those plastic things that cover the speakers always fall off, and i literally cannot put them into my bag or pocket without them finding a way to get themselves in a big knot that takes me five minutes to undo.
Like I said, the Koss Porta Pro are very decent heaphones that only cost 30$. They've been the standard for cheap headphones for decades now.

Holy moley
I use £6.99 earphones, and I'm sure the sound quality is crappy compared to yours. The thing is, the only place I use them is on a bus, or walking outside, where there is so much ambient noise that I wouldn't notice an improvement in quality. I'm not sure I could justify that amount of money unless I was only going to use them in a perfectly soundproofed room -- and then of course I would want speakers instead. And if you're listening to mp3s (which I guess most people with earphones are) then no amount of money is ever going to make them sound perfect.

I was tempted, until I read the reviews. which were mixed. I've bought 3 pairs of these:

Mostly because I wear them when I exercise and because I sweat buckets, I need something somewhat waterproof and these are the best I've ever had. not the best sound, but fair enough. Especially considering I don't short them out like i did most others.

Well the point of the Shure earphones is that they cancel out outside noise. It's probably why they're so expensive. They really do sounds incredible. The saddest part though is that I barely use them.Holy moley
