I wondered if anyone would try to do that, considering the ridiculous amount of clips I'd seen (but not watched) all over the internet. Sony went a bit overboard with this stuff.

Some of the comments are interesting along the lines of:

NOBODY cares about this movie. NOBODY wants to see it. Ergo: fake "leaked" 25 minute edit of the good parts made by a "fan" (aka someone at Sony with an editing desk).

by neonfrisbee

Sony is terrified they have a turkey on their hands, and for all intents and purposes they do, so keep trying to desperately create interest in a all but totally disinterested public. There's not going to be a sequel. Fork. Insert. Done.

Does the film really have no buzz? I'm not that attuned to "buzz" actually, so I thought it must be tracking pretty well, but for all I know, people might not have much interest in it.

My only real complaint is the Lizard and Connors are a bit too "comic book character" and Parker sounds more like Shia Lebouef in Transformers.

No. It's just someone moaning on the internet and trying to state their own opinion as a fact. From the Hollywood Reporter:

Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man is expected to cast a wide net as it debuts over the long July 4th frame.

Pre-release tracking is impressive for the superhero reboot, suggesting a six-day opening of $125 million or more, the best showing of any summer film outside of box office goliath The Avengers.

I really don't get why anyone would do this. Just wait for the damn film! Do they really think it'll be better for having already seen about a third of it out of context? I've seen one real clip and a TV ad that keeps popping up and that's enough to convince me I want to see the film. I don't need to see any more of it til then.

Well, I do wonder if a "fan" actually did this or if it's just another marketing ploy, but I find it more informative showing exactly how much material the studio has already made public. This is enough for a half hour television show.

It is a bit silly isn't it? I've taken more and more to avoiding all the clips past the first trailer. If I'm paying for a ticket I'd rather see it fresh at the cinema.
