So... I generally keep pretty quiet on the boards, content to read the various debates and tussles in a relaxed and slightly distant manner. Its a very nice place to take a coffee break.

I've been coming here a LONG time though, feel in good company and so would like to share what I've been working on for the last year.
A little game for ipad and iphone called Paper Saga!

(It was supposed to be a little game - it turned into a Saga along the way.)

It's aimed at younger, softer and more feminine players so I wouldn't imagine its many folks cup of tea on here, but I am very proud of it. It's very me... Art AND writing. It's also free to download and won't attempt to sting you for optional cash until you're relatively far in.

So... please have a look. And if you like it, take a moment to rate it on the istore.
The brief was 'beautiful and whimsical'. I think we achieved that. Its a bit different.

May the Tree of Life be with you.

Cheers!
Marc

For those who don't have an i-something or other, here's a taster of the Art style. Thanks for looking, folks.

Congrats Marc!

Did you design and/or code it yourself?

Thanks Sanjay.

Everything you see and read has my hand in it, but the coding credits go to far more advanced robotic brains than mine. We had a fantastic (but tiny) team of Engineers working on it.

Was a big endevour - the Game dev. was a lot more organic than we'd maybe have liked. Heard of 'Feature Creep'? This one marched forth!

Downloaded it last night. Watched the intro and loved it, but I hate to tell you - it crashed as soon as I tried to start the game. And continued to crash every time I tried to open it. I was using an Ipad, but I'm a version behind with my ios (don't know what I have right now but it wants me to upgrade to 5.1.1).

Hmm - sorry to hear that Jim. I'll get the programming monkeys to have a look under the hood a.s.a.p.

Def. sounds like a memory problem... its a very rich game. (Lots of beasties moving around all the time.)

Jim - my tech gurus tell me that 'turning the ipad off and turning it back on again' should cure it. Properly turning it off that is...hold power for a few seconds and slide 'off'. It cleares the cache of memory being used by various apps, apparently.

(THAT'S the solution?!! If it doesn't work, thanks a lot for trying anyway!)

It definitely looks interesting art-wise, but sadly I am i-less! If I get a chance I'll check it out and get back.

That worked. Now to start playing by clicking on the owl.

It looks like there was a crazy amount of work involved.
