"Dick Fury" is no worse an idea than what Marvel did with Marcus Johnson, to be honest.

No it isn't, but that's not a very high standard by which to be judging an idea's merits. Posted Image

And the big difference would be that the people who decided to introduce Marcus Johnson probably weren't looking at it from the standpoint of "is this a sound creative idea" so much as "let's market this sh*t!" Whereas Hasslehoff seems to legitimately believe that Dick Fury is a completely reasonable development.

But then again, no one has ever accused the Hoff of sound judgement:

Unless he didn't get paid, I don't see how it was un-classy =S

It's still not cool to waste his effort, and the new Ultimate voice is way lamer.

Marvel confirm cancellation of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and replacement with new, inferior Avengers show.

They didn't tell him he was being replaced. He found out on the episode's broadcast (sorry, should have made that clearer).

And more (third hand at least, so take with a pinch of salt)

Someone on the Spidey Crawlspace board who is friends with Greg Weisman and Josh Keaton and has ears in the industry-

From what I’ve been hearing, neither the Avengers producers, Josh Fine or Chris Yost were involved with, or even aware of this decision. I’ve also heard that Jamie Simone, the VOICE DIRECTOR for the series was not involved with this either. So this decision came from upstairs… Jeph Loeb and maybe Joe Quesada too.

About $150 on Amazon

I just said this in the other thread, but that's way too much. I expect there'll be a cheaper collection in less fancy packaging.

There's 6 movies - that's $30 a movie, which is the going rate isn't it? I think you can get some of their movies for only $20 these days, but even with that that'd add up to $120 and you get 3 bonus discs and what looks like a briefcase package.

3 of the movies come in regular and 3D, so they're two discs.

Current Blu-Ray prices on Amazon:

Iron Man: $14.96
Incredible Hulk: $14.19
Iron Man 2: $14.96
Thor: $19.96
Captain America: $24.96
Avengers (Pre-order): $27.99

About $115.

The box set has one bonus disc, "The Phase One Archives".

Thanks Paul. I guess they're not going to be selling very many of these sets by the looks of things then.

And if you wait just a couple of months you can generally find a lot of those movie used for fairly cheap. I pretty sure I wouldn't have too much trouble finding all the movies for about $10 (if not less) at this point. I don't think I've ever paid more than $15 even for a new blu ray.

New rumour is that one of Marvel's upcoming films is Black Panther: http://latino-review...-place-wakanda/

Earlier today I blew up my own twitter feed in the quest for new followers and boy did twitter nation respond!

Anyway, there has been much speculation as to the upcoming two Marvel films which have yet to be announced. It’s painfully obvious one of them is going to be the sequel to the Avengers.

But what about the other one?

Without further adieu, let’s get right to it…

Hell yes folks…

THE BLACK PANTHER is going to headline his own film!

How do I know? Let’s say I got it from FOUR different trusted sources.

Marvel is going BIG TIME after the urban film audience and I applaud them for that. Last year, it was reported that Marvel hired Mark Bailey to pen the script and I hear the script is fantastic.

Any casting suggestions? I think Michael B. Jordan (The Wire, Friday Night Lights, Chronicle, etc) would be good, unless they want someone older.

Interesting. Black Panther has been talked about ever since the end of Iron Man 2 (with the map in the background that seemed to point to Wakanda).

It'd be interesting to see them make it happen, and how they approach it, but I can't imagine it capturing audiences' imaginations in the same way that any of the previous Marvel Studios movies have.

I think you need a more famous name, as they'll be carrying the movie by themselves. Granted Helmsworth was relatively unknown as Thor so they go for who fits first and foremost, but I'd expect they want someone with plenty of movie experience rather than TV experience. With that there's three paths to go down - cocky and young (Anthony Mackie) or big and intimidating (Mr Eko from Lost), or regal and intense (Omar Epps). So long as it's not Will Smith. I wonder if they'll be tempted to get a rapper in the role.

I thought of the perfect Ms Marvel last night - Rachel McAdams. She's got the charisma to carry a movie by herself and have the personality to be in the same room as Tony Stark.

McAdams is too cute for Ms Marvel. It could work, but I'd prefer to see someone more serious and mature, Charlize Theron if they could get her.

Charlize Theron, Rachael McAdams, Claire Danes...I think any of those 3 would be fine in the role. It's not really that hard of a role to cast as far as I'm concerned, and all three are very good actresses.

I don't think so. Marvel movies are clearly going in the direction of being funny and full of action. And honestly it's the best template for them - they're just grown up Disney movies. Any move to be serious would be a mistake. And unfortunately Charlize isn't very funny (I know she was in Arrested Development, but it was pratfall comedy, not charismatic comedy). Claire Danes isn't that funny either.

Sorry, I don't mean it should be super-dramatic and Oscary, or anything, just that her character works best as the "heavy," the one that doesn't want to put up with everyone else's shenanigans because she's businesslike and on mission. I think McAdams is too adorable to pull that off. She can definitely get a lot of funny straightman lines in though. Taylor Shilling would be great, and has the advantage of being slightly known, but still mostly unknown.

Charlize Theron needs to stay out of comic book films (well, superhero films) until they do an adaptation of Whedon's (or Morrison's, but lets be honest here, which writer is likely to be more in favour in hollywood right now, eh?) X-Men run. And she needs to play Emma Frost. She's the perfect Emma Frost, and Emma Frost is already practically perfect in every way. Except she can't fly on umbrellas. But she could make you think that she could. And you'd love her for it!
