Well the saving grace is that at least they're using the Extremis plot... that is IF it is like the comics... I thought that was the real "re-invention" of the character... Why on earth would they drop it in the books? Who knows... But yeah, that's the logical progression for the movies, the man becomes a real machine-man. They could still only use the evil-clones as just cannon fodder... I really hope the Mandarin's the actual villain.

On another note, I would rather cross the Punisher with SHIELD and Clint/Natasha... Something like SHIELD is tracking an AIM cell or something and in good old Frank fashion, he f*cks the whole opperation up by getting there first and start raining lead everywhere... Then he would get "recruited" (as in Nick Fury gives him the option to help or rot in a secret hellicarrier jail) to work the same case together with SHIELD... Humm, that could actually work

I think I have a good idea for a Cage/Iron Fist movie. Make Cage the villain. I don't mean a one-dimensional "eeeevil" villain, but a conflicted one, the "heavy" in the plot. The true villain would be his boss, but Cage would be the muscle. The plot would mostly focus on Iron Fist and his origin, and play out as a martial arts movie. He would be the definite star, but Cage could take the "villain origin" slots in the plotting, allowing him to be fully rounded out in a way that wouldn't leave the focus confused. As an escaped con and freak, he finds himself working for bad folks, but he clearly isn't enjoying it, they show numerous small rebellions and maybe a scene with the civilian Rand (who he wouldn't know), and then during the final fight scene with Danny he has a change of heart, turns on the true villain (Meachum, probably) and saves Danny's life. Then they go on to form Heroes for Hire, setting up future movies.

Oh, David Hasslehoff. If you didn't exist, we'd have to invent you:

"Dick Fury" is no worse an idea than what Marvel did with Marcus Johnson, to be honest.

Frank's crazy though. He's Batman sort of crazy but still nuts. I think that's the only interesting aspect to the character really. He doesn't have Batman's wealth, toys or double life, he only has his insanity.

Yep, that was a really lame idea, and you could could see the hands of Marvel marketing all over that.

True, but nothing a bomb-collar couldn't handle to keep him on a leash Posted Image

Plus I think it's precisely his lose-cannon attitude that could make things interesting, in a sort of spy movie with SHIELD. It would be kinda cool to see Hawkeye, Black widow and the Punisher going berserk against a horde of AIM or Hydra agents... They could pretty much use the Punisher as a puny Hulk with guns, just cut him lose and see what happens Posted Image

Oh and if they REALLY want to get creative, just add Blade and nazi vampires to the mix... That could be either the worst or the best movie ever

I like what Millar did with Cap, and then a Black Ops Avengers group, trying to use Frank for missions and it just, not, working, out!

Frank isn't normal. He's not directible, let alone controllable for any length of time.

Put him in any kind of structure and he will pull it down just by his nature. He's not an amoral assassin, unbeatable superspy or self-made superhero. He's a haunted, broken man avoiding his grief and pain by killing people that he chooses to fit his definition of "guilty".

As a cautionary tale, Frankenstein's monster style, he could be used very well, but that's it really.

Of course a filmmaker can change that but... then he's not Frank anymore.

It's funny how tastes change. Punisher, Ghost Rider and Wolverine were all the rage in the 90's - they were hard nosed superheroes, grim and gritty, and their stories took on a very 'real world' tone. I guess they appealed to Gen X as they entered their late teens and wanted something more grounded than the traditional superhero punchy stuff. These days thought Ghost Rider doesn't sell, Punisher is basically reinvented by Ennis to be a crime book that's got nothing to do with Marvel and Wolverine is the huggable uncle that plays with the Avengers and runs a school. Grim and gritty doesn't really have a place in the comic books these days.

I'm convinced Gen X are the boomers of the comics industry - forcing the creators to capitulate to our changing demands. Big loud comics in the 80's, grim and gritty as puberty broke out and we worried about what girls thought of us reading spandex, a huge comics crash when we started spending our money on drink rather than funnybooks, a resurgence in 1998 ish when we had mid 20's free cash and wanted to embrace nostalgia and now a general waning of the industry as we look for new hobbies and move away from our teenage pastimes (which I think links with the emergence of indie books recently and the popularity of kickstarter). We're getting movies of our 80's favorites though, changing Hollywood as we go.

If only someone could figure out what we're going to be wanting as we hit our 40's there's going to be a boatload of cash to be made (I wonder if it's kid friendly books but I think that window has passed). Anyway, sorry to derail the thread with wild eyed nonsense.

Why? Keep it up, take pride in your work. Even the early drafts.

Look at the two scripts I posted. I'd love it if someone drew them, but I doubt anyone ever will. You've at least got an artist.

Ehh. Got all the previous movies on Blu-ray already, and it's not really a definitive collection like Lord of the Rings or something because the Marvel Movie-verse is always expanding.

I'll buy it, assuming the price isn't outrageous. Though it probably will be since it has to have collectible packaging and 3D discs included too. Don't need/want that stuff.. I actually held off buying any of the blu rays because I was hoping for a collection like this...

Unless he didn't get paid, I don't see how it was un-classy =S
