Game of Shawdows is a shockingly boring movie. It has a great cast, the production value is amazing, but its just a bore... Especially when compared to the BBC Sherlock series.

I watched Jeff who Lives at Home. Great little film. Nice to see Arnold's girlfriend in Commando aged well.

Currently watching Safe House... What a boring piece of trash. It's completely generic, Denzel is going through the motions, and Reynolds is the most useless "serious" CIA agent I have seen in a film. He seems completely inept at his job, and his puppy "I am Ryan Reynolds and I am hot" make him that much more untolerable to me. I used to like Reynolds, but I can't stand him now. I find that he is a very limited actor who's not exactly convincing in other roles than loveable smartass. Chris Evans would have rocked the crap out of this role, but even at that, the movie would still be boring.

i found it uncharismatic. jason segel gave a good performance though, it was pretty understated.

I saw CORIOLANUS on DVD today. It may be the best Shakespearean film adaptation I've seen. At least as far as the tragedies go.

This is out on DVD? Oh man, I need to get it!

I just watched Project: ALF. I really like that TVM, despite not remembering much at all about the original series (which I've just found online and will watch some of later on). Martin Sheen is a highlight.

I have a man crush on Segel, and I found that it was a ncie little indie. Sure, it didn't blow my mind, but I enjoyed it.

Heh, early South Park can be a bit hit or miss but this is solid gold.

Haywire - Essentially a direct to DVD thriller with good actors (and Channing Tatum) and stylish direction.

Gina Carano is fine with the running/jumping/shooting/kicking and less so when she's asked to show some emotion but overall she does a decent job.

Meh, I don't mind set times, so long as I have options. I still watch at least half the shows I watch during their original air times/stations,

Even if I'm not doing anything else at the time something is on, I will usually find something else to do so I can record the show and watch it later. I do this so I can avoid the commercials.

But I wonder, as more people do this (as surely they must), if advertisers will be more reluctant to pay for slots that they know nobody is watching. And if so, that's going to have a huge effect on how television is funded.

New technology is a huge problem for TV networks who rely on advertising. Fewer and fewer people actually sit down at the broadcast time to watch a TV show, preferring instead to time-shift it. In the US, three of the networks are actually suing the maker of a recording box that automatically skips the ads.

Yeah it's something already happening. Ad revenues have been down at the UK commercial channels for years now.

That's why they let ITV use product placement recently because they were desperate for more revenue and if you skip past a character dangling a can of coke at the screen then you'll miss some of the story.

Yeah, product placement is a huge deal in TV these days. Sometimes it's very subtle, like just something they're already using with the label facing the camera, and sometimes it gets downright silly, like how shows such as Bones will actually have entire scenes designed to highlight or discuss some feature of a car. I've become very sensitive lately to when they make an effort to get a logo into shot, like when a car pulls up to a scene and the camera is placed to get a perfect 1-3 second still of the grill.

I think the Bones writers are getting downright annoyed with it since the Avatar episode, to be honest. The last major product placement scene saw them talking about the GPS, and no sooner are they done than Booth misses a shortcut and drives the long way round because he's following the GPS.
