A lot of people are reporting they can't get on the board today. I should add I'm not having any problems at all, but so far 4 or 5 people have reported elsewhere that the board isn't working at all for them.

If you can find out, what exactly happens when they type in: forums.millarworld.tv

Do they get a "Page not found" or something else?

I can get here now but earlier this morning and all day yesterday. Part of yesterday, I couldn't access it with my iPhone but later on, I was able to.

We moved servers this past Friday, I'm guessing people either need to change the DNS IPs and perhaps clear their browser cache in order to get in. I use Verizon 4.2.2.2 or Google 8.8.8.8, these are root DNS servers almost always are very up-to-date.

Thanks. Most of the people affected are back in now I think. Except now Christian can't get in. Still... who cares about that guy! Posted Image

i'm still having heaps of problems, have to google the forum and then randomly click links to try find one that lets me in. I've deleted all browsing history but have no idea about setting dns settings etc.

yeah....too many warnings on that page telling me not to do it unless i'm a developer!
seems a bit crazy to go through all that to access a web page - i assume if i wait long enough google will recognise the updated server or something?

It's a simple change you can change back in 2 minutes but then I work in IT and websites in particular so can understand it may confuse or worry others.

It's not Google recognising it, they do which is why the guide is for adding their DNS, it's your local ISP and yes they should catch up eventually. The only thing I don't quite gather, and maybe Tegler can help with, is the server switch happened on Friday and the issue of not being able to access happened 3 days later for me.

the mysteries of DNS propagation, best i gather. you could run a trace route to see where the connection drops. i never lost access so it's hard to say. i've always seen issues with server moves usually related to peoples outside the US.

also i heard earlier today that AT&T had a major DNS outage this week. could have a been an issue for some people as well.

I removed the Google DNS server to see if I could run a traceroute and it works now so it shall forever remain a mystery.

I have been touch and go with it for a week now. Not sure why it works sometimes and not others. I'll trying clearing the cache.

Nothing doing on my phone whatsoever. And I have zero idea how to adjust connection settings on that one.

You guys really shouldn't be afraid of changing DNS settings on your devices/computers. The thing about various ISPs is that they have their own schedule as to when they are going to update their name servers from the root DNS servers (the Google and Verizon mentioned above are root DNS servers).

Root DNS servers always have the most up to the minute information about what web sites are on what servers.

I'm only having the problem on my work computer, and I don't have access to change the DNS server there. I guess I'm waiting.

Same here. It's been on and off for about a week now. I was able to get on Friday, then it was dead Saturday and Sunday. Works now, Monday morning.

changed to the 8888 thingie. all good. what i don't get is what happens to companies big like amazon or small like businesses who shift servers, does everyone lose access until their ISP updates their registry? seems a crazy way to run things.
