I really thought they biting off more than they could chew with this movie but I am happy to say that I was wrong. This is seriously one of the best movies I've ever seen. I have never been so enthrawled. Three hours just flew right by. I am still in disbelief at just how good that was. So impressed.

Another nice touch I wanted to mention: the two ravens flying by when Thor crashed Loki into the mountain.

It was "blink and you might miss it," but jumped out at me on both viewings. Just made me smile.

You're all too easily fooled by women. I didn't believe it for a second.

I really try to NOT deduce, analyse or problem solve when I'm watching a film. Once it was revealed that she was manipulating Loki I instantly flashed back to the "interrogation" with the Russians and it all became clear.

Plus I had more respect for Whedon (which is saying something) for setting up his characters and the structure of the movie so well.

It was a great moment when Loki realized he'd been played. Hiddleston is a real asset to these films. Posted Image

That flew right past me. I shall watch for it on the DVD.

Wow what a great movie! I didn't think I would have liked it as much as I did. Very entertaining and well done all around. I loved so many lines. The Hulk was finally done right in my opinion. I thought they told the story fairly well. And I loved both ending scenes. That was some great stuff. This movie will make/break more records. Because it is a good popcorn flick the whole family can see. I think I will be seeing it again sometime soon.

That's where your Whedon-love cost you a great moment.

As someone who's no fan of his, I was just watching it thinking "this is the guy people think is a good writer and director? This is terrible writing, and bad acting!" - as a result the reveal really impressed me.

I'm not sure if I ever put my thoughts on the film up, but I have to say the movie has aged really well in my brain. I've been thinking about it quite a lot, and thinking about it fondly. With other recent superhero movies I've completely forgotten about them almost immediately after seeing them.

According to Feige, it was Joss's idea to include Thanos in the movie:

The folks over at /Film asked whose idea it was to include Thanos in The Avengers, and Feige responded “Joss. Joss, Joss, and Joss.” Asked if he let Whedon include Thanos because Marvel wanted to get more cosmic, Feige responded:

“I wanted to get cosmic and did with Thor and told him that we wanted it to be aliens, that a portal opens in New York and aliens poor out, because the cosmic cube opened a portal. Who they were, what they were, and how they interacted was all Joss and Joss is a huge fan of Thanos.”

And, his inspiration was the best Thanos story ever, imho:

Asked why he’s such a big fan of Thanos, Whedon had this to say:

“He for me is the most powerful and fascinating Marvel villain. He’s the great grand daddy of the badasses and he’s in love with death and I just think that’s so cute. For me, the greatest Avengers was The Avengers annual that Jim Starlin did followed by The Thing 2 in 1 that contained the death of Adam Warlock. Those were some of the most important texts and I think underrated milestones in Marvel history and Thanos is all over that, so somebody had to be in control and had to be behind Loki’s work and I was like ‘It’s got to be Thanos.’ And they said ‘Okay’ and I’m like ‘Oh my God!’

Like a rampaging Hulk, Marvel Studios' "The Avengers" seems determined to demolish the global box office -- to say nothing of its competition -- hauling in $702.2 million in just 13 days.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Joss Whedon-directed film has earned $226.4 million in North America, including an impressive $18.9 million on Monday, and $475.8 million internationally.

TheWrap contends "The Avengers" is on track to become a $1 billion blockbuster, a first for Marvel Studios. Jeff Bock, an analyst for Exhibitor Relations Co. told the website he "wouldn't be surprised" if the film passed "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows -- Part 2" ($1.3 billion) to become No. 3 on the list of all-time box office leaders, behind "Avatar" ($2.7 billion) and "Titanic" ($2.1 billion).
The ensemble film has already eclipsed the lifetime grosses of Marvel's "Iron Man," "Iron Man 2," "Thor" and "Captain America: The First Avenger."

However, "The Avengers" isn't only selling movie tickets -- it's selling shawarma! According to TMZ, a scene in the film (no spoilers!) has led to a spike in demand for the meat wraps. In fact, the manager of Ro Ro's Chicken in Hollywood says that shawarma sales jumped 80 percent in the days after the movie's opening.

So the Avengers movie will ultimately do more to boost the sales of shawarma than the sales of Marvel comics?

Could be...Movies don't automatically lead to a spike in comics sales.

Not so fast!

I actually just took a peek at Amazon's graphic novel sales, and there no Avengers anywhere near the top.

However, in a move that will surely bring a tear to O'Hara's eye.....Infinity Gauntlet is now in Amazon's top five in graphic novel sales!

a mate suggested shawarma to me the day before we went to see Avengers. I was disturbed by his foresight.

That's great news. I'm always amazed that Thanos isn't on the radar for alot of comic fans, but then if you weren't into comics in the early 90's there's no reason he would be - he hasn't done much in the last 20 years.

I feel vomitus now. 20 years...where does the time go?
