I remember a couple people in the previous thread wondering how Asylum wasn't getting sued over their "American Battle" film. Well guess what:
Universal Sues The Asylum: 'You Sunk our Battleship!'
Good. I'm sick of the Asylum routinely stealing poster designs to use for the DVD cases on their "mockbusters" in the hope of tricking people into thinking they're the real movies. Universal absolutely have a case.

Actually I'm not sure they really do. As asylum has pointed out the two films have been announced and advertising along side one another for quite some time now and Universal didn't have problem with it until the bad reviews for their film started to come in. There is no way that an Asylum film will actually adversely affect the profits of a major theatrical release and as Dread central pointed out the day Battleship debuts in theaters American Battleship will be airing on the SyFy channel, which Universal owns.

For a long time before he committed to making his live-action directing debut with Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Incredibles creator Brad Bird had been trying to get epic earthquake drama 1906 off the ground. But though he’s now ready and seemingly able to take on a new directing assignment, he’s travelling a few years further forward in time, making a deal to craft 1952 for Disney.
You may recall that Damon Lindelof originally pitched the film to the Mouse House last year, selling the company on a sci-fi concept that everyone involved is keeping strictly under wraps. Which shouldn’t really come as a surprise given Lindelof’s association with one JJ Abrams.
Now the co-writer of Prometheus has cranked out a draft, working with Entertainment Weekly writer-turned-graphic novel author Jeff Jensen.
With Bird attached, Disney will be pushing full speed ahead on this one, seeing the chance to spawn all sorts of multi-platform spin-offs should the movie become a success. The plan is to shoot next year after time spent preparing and casting. Lindelof is aboard to produce from the start.
Aside from his Prometheus work (due June 1), Lindelof has also been hard at work co-writing Star Trek 2, which has just wrapped up principle photography and will be out on May 17 next year.
Loved Bird's MI4, so I'm looking forward to seeing what he does with this.

expendables 2 looks stupidly decent!
Yep, that's my diagnosis. Both of Arnie's lines in the trailer made me smile.

Was the door thing a reference to Commando or does he tears the seats out of the car in that one?

(Although Wills and Arnie driving around in a Smart car firing out of the window may be getting too far into the realms of silliness. At this rate, the third movie is going to have them all pootling around in golf carts firing bazookas at one another.)

Kellan Lutz, Spencer Locke to Play Tarzan and Jane in Motion-Capture Movie
The Twilight star and Resident Evil actress will topline what will be a performance-capture 3D adaptation of the Edgar Rice Burroughs jungle story.
Constantin Film’s Tarzan movie has been quietly been in development but is now entering the casting stage.
Kellan Lutz, co-star of the Twilight movies, has signed on to star as the title character and Spencer Locke, perhaps best known for playing K-Mart in Constantin’s Resident Evil movies, has nabbed the role of Jane Porter. The movie will be a performance-capture 3D production.
Reinhard Klooss and Holger Tappe are directing the movie with Kloos also producing with Robert Kulzer.
Klooss, Yoni Brenner and Jessica Postigo wrote the script, which updates the classic Edgar Rice Burroughs jungle hero. For example, Tarzan’s parents, billionaire adventurers, are now killed in airplane crash rather than being marooned with their child. And the movie’s villain is the CEO of Greystoke Energies, a man who took over the company from Tarzan’s deceased parents.
In the script, Jane is the daughter of an African guide and is committed to the conservation and preservation of the African jungle. She eventually works with Tarzan to defeat the mercenary army of Greystoke Energies.

The synopsis does nothing for me, but I can see the point of making a new Tarzan movie using mocap. There would be so many VFX in there anyway its not a huge stretch to do everything that way.
The apes are going to get compared to 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' and the jungle environment and technology will have to go some way to beat 'Avatar' and, eventually, 'Avatar 2'.

Raid the Redemption - Thoughts & Rambles
The Raid: Redemption is an Indonesian martial arts action film directed by Gareth Evans. If you’re a fan of action, get ready to grin the entire time for this brutal story about policemen raiding the biggest drug lord mobster’s 30 floor apartment, with each floor filled with rapists, murderers and other criminal scumbags. Its 30 floors of pure mindless chaos, with the 20 elite cops having to fight their way in to assinate/capture Tama Riyadi (Ray Sahetapy).
While the movie has 20 elite cops, the movie centers down to 4 leading characters, the main protagonist being an elite SWAT member Rama (Iko Uwais), Lieutenant Wahyu (Pierre Gruno), Sergeant Jaka (Joe Taslim) and the hot-headed rookie Bowo (Tegar Satrya ), these are the main characters againts the merciless waves of criminals from the Machete gang to snipers to brutal martial artists.
Tama’s right hand Mad Dog is pretty much the best villain in years when it comes to action movies, this man loves carnage and martial arts and you will see two very beautifully choreographed action sequences featuring Mad Dog, but that isn’t to say the movie only has 2 memorable scenes, no, this movie in it’s entirety is focused on stunning action visuals. With it’s 1 hour 46 minute mark, only about 15-25 minutes in total is served for the more quiet scenes as the **** hits the fan.
The soundtrack is pure pleasure for this movie, it’s very up-beat, energetic techno boom beating with other instrumental usages such as soft piano play, no vocals whatsoever or rap in the background. It’s all magic by Mike Shinado & Joseph Trapanese. It’s very dubstep.
I will note, that this movie being very Eastern, us more western cultured may find some of the plot points as clichés, but if anything it’s to remind us that this is made for the Eastern market and with a movie title having “redemption” word, you can find yourself besides stunning action to be viewing an emotional story regarding family, honor, corruption and personal redemptions.
In short, this is a very stunning action movie that really makes you want to crave for more, and I can see Mad Dog becoming a cinematic film monster classic that people will remember for a long time. Go see this movie.

I need to start directing Malaysian martial arts movies so Welsh Gareth's can monopolise the market, he even went to the same college as me.
His name is as Welsh as yours.
