Keyboard separate from the pc makes sense I think. It will probably become the standard.

Asus have been doing it for a year. The difference here is Microsoft are higher profile and the keyboard looks way lighter (and easier to attach if the film can be believed).

There are benefits to the thicker Asus keyboard as it has an extra 10 hours battery time and USB ports and the like but it is heavy.

Hello:

I put in an A: drive in my PC years ago when it meant something,
like the disk that only carried 1.44 MB. Now that everyone has a
thumb drive it is irrelevant.

Thing is, I want to replace it with something but I don't know what.
The A: drive is just taking up space on my PC. What do modern
PC's have now?

ummm...a wireless card so you can connect to your router and run everything off the completely reliable and in no way risky cloud network?

I never even considered putting a floppy drive in my current pc. hell, I think I've only used the CD drive a couple of times. the last few games i put on here i just downloaded (legally, from the publishers) and I stream or download any media I want to watch either through my pc or my xbox.

pc just needs memory, to run stuff and storage space to keep stuff in. if you don't have, and really want one, a bleeuchray player might be okay, as it'll be cheaper for pc than a standalone one.

A second hard drive would be the most obvious choice if you're looking to use the floppy drive space for something else.

EDIT: Sack that idea, install a cup holder instead.

I already advised about a Blu-ray player aka Minidisc you can watch films on.

This could be scarily accurate, if HUD contact lenses and Augmented Reality ever take off.

P.S - where's the 'embed video' option gone?

Just post the URL in the format, and it does it automatically.

You have to use the "media" option under "Special BB Code" - third button from the left.

I hope the VR lenses come with Adblock.

One thing I hope for from augmented reality is realtime translations, taking photos of Japanese text, running it through a translator, and then overlaying the English equivalent. There could even be realtime subtitling of voice. It'll be a while before I would expect these to be the best translations possible, but it should certainly make things minimally understandable.

This is pretty nifty:

Scientists Invent Particles That Will Let You Live Without Breathing

This may seem like something out of a science fiction movie: researchers have designed microparticles that can be injected directly into the bloodstream to quickly oxygenate your body, even if you can't breathe anymore. It's one of the best medical breakthroughs in recent years, and one that could save millions of lives every year.
. . .

The solution has already been successfully tested on animals under critical lung failure. When the doctors injected this liquid into the patient's veins, it restored oxygen in their blood to near-normal levels, granting them those precious additional minutes of life.

Pretty slick. If they could also invent some sort of portable blood circulation device that could be quickly attached to temporarily replace the heart, they could basically keep dead people viable for a rez for a decent amount of time before serious equipment could be made available to do the job.

Like this? Not Japanese to English yet, but my colleagues have used it and had positive responses.

Yes, that's very slick, and I'd definitely pick that up if I were touring Europe.
