Does Dropbox integrate into Explorer in the same way as Google Drive? For me it just appears in my list of drives now, whereas Dropbox doesn't. Unless there's an equivalent Dropbox extension that I don't have installed.

My ISP-supplied file storage space does that without the need for any kind of extension, and I didn't have to sign away any of my rights to the work I store there Posted Image

Ok, well I made the leap. After a week or so of beta testing my new Windows 7 rig, I've officially moved over to it on a permanent basis. I'm still working out some screwy kinks, mostly due to Microsoft not leaving things well enough alone, but everything works pretty well, for the most part. Bum bum buuuuuum.

i think i'm finally going to upgrade to a smart phone and i'm confused by all the options. my sister is insisting i get an iphone, but i already have an ipod.. are they one in the same, aside from being able to talk on the phone? can you put all your music (30 G) on an iphone, or do you still need an ipod for that? is the touchpad the same on both? ... cause i can't type worth shit on my ipod, the touch keys are too close together.

If you want transfer your music from your iPod, I'm guessing you have no choice but to get an iPhone. Your other option would be to just keep your iPod as your music player.

iPhones come in 32 or 64Gb models, but presumably the larger model is massively over-priced.

Whatever phone you get, you'll have the same problem with the keypad. That said, mine doesn't give me too many problems, even in portrait mode.

Basic rule of thumb is, if you can stand Apple, get an iPhone. The general consensus is that they are "the best." If you don't like Apple then there are a lot of options, but you'd probably want something Android, because Windows phones are a bit limited.

i like apple, it's just that if the iphone keyboard is the same as the one on the ipod touch, then i'm screwed, because i can't type a coherent sentence on that thing.

The only ones I know of are Blackberrys. And that wouldn't be a great option seeing as they're heading swiftly towards the tech graveyard.

Hmm, do they make alternate keyboard apps? Worth looking into. Maybe they make small bluetooth keyboards or something.

Edit: here's one.

You can of course dictate your messages to Siri. Not ideal if you're in public though.

Heh, fair enough, but there might be something else out there, is what I'm saying. Yeah, if you hate the Apple keyboard then maybe the iPhone isn't for you, although most smartphones use some variation on the theme and they probably aren't that much better.

any fone bone you get you can use predictive text just like on non-smart phones by selecting the option instead of a qwerty keyboard. so there's no need to worry. do you have stumpy finger itis? choose a fone with the biggest screen, a galaxy or something.

For what it's worth I'm often surprised at just how accurate the iPhone (4) keyboard is - it's possible they may have improved it since the iPod you're using was developed. Head to a store and try one out (or ask a friend). For the most part the predictive/corrective text works well, however I'm not a thumb texter - I use one index finger...

As for employing it as your MP3 player, you can do, but while the headphones that come with the device include inbuilt compact controls (volume up/down, pause and skip) they're not great sounding. I prefer my old iPod nano for music and podcasts simply because I like being able to use the controls without having to take the device out of my pocket to see the "buttons".

It's Google's equivalent of wanting you to give them permission to sew your mouth to another user's ass.

WTF Google...

depending on the particular user...

In contrast to what Ogul says, it seems that in serious reviews, the best phones are usually not iphones but different android-based ones. I'd take a look at some magazines' Top Tens and then try them out in a store to see which one you like best.

You could go with a phone with a larger screen. The iphone has a 3.5 size screen, but there are a lot of different phones with bigger screens around. For example, the Samsung Galaxy S2 (which is one of the current standard phones) has a 4.3 size screen. Maybe that'd help with the typing.

I have a S2 and I'm not a fan of the keyboard. My old HTC was much better for typing on, even though it had a much smaller screen, mainly because the keyboard had better auto-correct and auto-fill functionality.

Interesting. Personally, I'm getting allong fine with the keyboard on my Galaxy Ace - this is where you really have to try out the phones in the store, Stephanie.

Random interesting use of a smart phone... I was at a gig last night where the (unaccompanied) singers used a phone to give themselves a "note" to begin singing. The guy said, "We're students so we can't afford a pitch pipe. It's a free app!"

Pretty trivial, but interesting I thought.

Nobody is a fan of the standard Samsung keyboard. Happily, though, you can get the Gingerbread keyboard for free; it's much better for everything, especially predictive text.

If you're especially fat-fingered, the Galaxy S3 is due out in three weeks. It's the same size as the Nexus, but has a 4.8" screen. Battery size has been increased to 2100 mAh to compensate.
