I have now heard the Santigold album and LOVE IT!! I think it's better than her first, more cohesive.

This is a good album cut, produced by Dave Sitek of TV On The Radio:

I'm a fan as well. I was lucky enough to see her at Coachella this year. I think she's really talented.

They reformed late last year, I'm going to see them in July!

Huh, that was unexpected. I might pick up the new album - I had a bit of a crush on Shirley Manson back when they were big.

I saw Santigold in concert last night. I'm not a huge fan but I thought she was a really incredible performer; I was blown away.

The new Orbital is very good, can't wait to see them live again this summer.

The new Simian Mobile Disco is pretty good as well, a lot more housey than their old stuff but this track is a cracker.

I have loads of new music but I can't think of any more right now.

Oh, I've something else to add to this thread - DROKK: Music Inspired By Mega-City One by Portishead's Geoff Barrow and film soundtrack composer Ben Salisbury.

2012 album, sounds like a throw back to 80 action movies / video games. Love it!

I went to see The Ty Segall Band last night. It was the best rock show I'd been to in ages.

His album with White Fence, Hair, is among my favorites of the year.

Just impulse bought Beach House's latest album, Bloom. If it's anywhere near the quality of Teen Dream, I should enjoy it. I'm desperately behind on the music scene, as always.

I read through this thread, and realize I know who absolutely zero of the newer musicians listed here are... when did I become such an old man :(?

I was waiting for Sarah to come in and say something, but the El-P produced Killer Mike album R.A.P. Music is phenomenal, what I think will prove to be a seminal work. Here's a killer track from it ("Reagan"):

El-P is going to own summer 2012 between that Killer Mike record and his (awesome awesome) solo album.

Has anyone been listening to the new Beach House album, Bloom?

I vaguely knew a few of their singles off the last album, but picked this up because I saw a good review and I really like it. I went back and bought Teen Dream now as well.

As I mentioned earlier, I did pick it up on a whim a couple weeks back. Haven't had a chance to listen to it, though. Glad to hear you're liking it.

I don't know how much of what I'm listening to is new, but I've had a bit of a renaissance of getting back into music lately, heard some very good stuff.

Funkiest song I've heard in a while:

Some beautfiul jazzy guitar by Gábor Szabó:

Lovely bit of prog metal, best riff I've heard in years comes in at the end:

And for fans of The Bridge:

Drokk is great - I can see why they might not have gone for it as the soundtrack to the film, as it's a little thin-sounding sometimes, and not quite as good as Carpenter. But I thoroughly applaud anyone who wants to bring back 80s synth evil music!

I've not bought much music this year so far.

I pre-ordered the new Ladyhawke album which should arrive any day now. Looking forward to that.

I might have to check out that Garbage album too. Thanks for the suggestion, I had no idea they had done a new one.

Thanks for that, only stuff I'd ever heard form them was "tick of the clock" from the Drive soundtrack, which is also pretty fantastic.

Oh hell yes, I guess that's what Metal Mickey would look like on a bad acid trip. Listening to it again, sounds like they've been working with Aphex Twin.
